That makes sense. The USA-only 912E is both rare in Europe and its miserly fuel economy probably makes it even more attractive over there.

Guess that you are right, David.

But having had more 911s I have to say that I love the lightness of the E....not so much the sound of the engine, though.

I agree, having had 911's, 914's, 914-6, and the 912E. It's a great car to drive. The engine sound is much better with a good equal length tuned header. I had one custom built by Tiger at A1 Performance (known for VW race engine exhausts) and it made a WORLD of difference in both low and mid range pacross the power range, as well as a much better sound. Plus it's stainless and lighter than the factory exhaust, too.

My cousin's husband had a 912E that he let me drive. It felt very nimble - more nimble than my 3.2, for sure. It felt good to drive, and while it might not have been as fast as a similar-era 911, I enjoyed driving it.

Don't think they've appreciated that much.

Value of a good condition in today's market is between $15,000-$20,000 February 2013

I had a metallic brown salvage title (fire damage) 82,000 original miles with a salvage title .. I sold it in one day on Craigslist for $4700 I had so much interest in the car , I deleted the add on Craigslist and took it off the market.. One guy literally stalked me I ended up,selling it him at a higher price.

I been actively looking at 1976 912E's higest selling price so far is $40,000 , seen quite a few in the $20,000 range .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1395274961.jpg

I have a 912E engine with its injection in need of a rebuild. I'd like to sell. Figured with this thread receiving so much input I'd make it known here. Email with interest, i.e., I don't want to change the focus of this discussion so email me privately if you're interested.

Is it the engine from your own E?

No. It's a spare I happened across a few years ago.
