Is this overly optimistic or?
Are mid 80's cars really bringing 30 grand?

It is optimistic, but most dealers are testing the mid-30s with good cars.
Asking isn't getting -- and I'm not judging this specific car, but that is a standard-looking dealer price. Nice color, and a coupe. Don't know anything about the dealer. I would look into it, but my engine is on the garage floor, begging to be re-installed.

Not a bad starting point for a seller. Ask away and see what happens. Not out of the realm, but do not ask sm, he will say that high mileage unit is way over priced. Sellers market at the moment, go for it.

Well here's some info on this dealer! He screws up many fleabay car auctions for sellers by bidding high to find out/show the reserve price. Then a minute later he retracts his bid. Days later he re-bids lower. He has 48 bid retractions and counting. Then he even had the balls to call the seller {which one of was a buddy on mind} to try and get it for a lower price. He was reported to fleabay rite away, but we all know they don't really care even though they say: "You accidentally enter a wrong bid amount (for example, you bid $99.50 instead of $9.95). If this occurs, re-enter the correct bid amount immediately."
His fleabay name is: drdtrade Look at the bids on this examble: Last edited by 6300 RPMs; 03-03-2014 at 05:01 PM.. |

A reasonably rare color for a 3.2, sport seats, records and decent miles. Certainly high twenties - $30k is not a stretch. And if you just HAVE to have Meteor Grey, then the extra premium might be worth it - if everything else checks out. |

If its excellent condition and stock I don't think the price is unreasonable, Not too may in that color with sport seats.

Interesting ... I am not looking to sell my SC but nice to know if I was that the values are getting stronger. Our relationship is too long - 21 years

$33k for a MG coupe. Great color yes and 86 is the best year for the Carrera. But without a top end not worth more than low - mid twenties. Although the rear wiper is a nice option, for that number I would expect, OG paint, and some special factory options, beyond the wiper & Sport seats.
The seller asks ambitious prices. Check the Plat metallic SC he had on here and now languisihing on E bay |

$33k would be the price for a G50 coupe with under $100k.
3.2 coupe 915 with 110k that is pristine is more like $25k-$28k |

A good looking car but I'm not sure how he is justifying that price. It might be my old peepers but I don't see really special / rare options apart from the desirable factory short shifter. Sport seats are nice and Looks like it has a later CR radio, and the wrong door speakers. I wonder if its got all its history intact.
What is interesting about this is the staging of the car here on Pelican, and presumably Rennlist before trying to sell it on E-bay. I'm assuming he wants a deal before actually listing it hence the listing it in five days countdown he has going on. He had that Platinum SC on ebay for a while, again a nice looking car, but I did think that one was all the money for a high mileage SC.

It looks like a really nice car, well cared-for and pleasing colors, etc. Certainly in the top 10% or so of what I've seen in 3.2 Carreras advertised. I've never considered Meteor grey to be some super-duper color, but it's nice.
I sold Porsches at the dealer when this car was new. 1986 is indeed a great year, last of the 915 cars that I greatly prefer to G50 cars and the best 915 trans, etc. It's not a heavily optioned car, it has partial leather, (standard equipment), a sunroof and sport seats. It sits on 6/7s which are factory correct but any self-respecting enthusiast would want to upgrade to 7/8s and a few other accepted mods that increase the enjoyment and value of these cars. When I look at a car like this, I immediately start a ticker-tape of the cost of all the things I'd need to do to it to make it perfect. Stock 3.2 Carreras are slower than pig slop and don't handle particularly well. I recently drove a 1988 G50 coupe in concours condition with low miles, absolutely a 10 in every way and all I could think was how incredibly slow it was. Anyhow...nice car and can't comment on the price because I'm apparently behind the times by a couple years. A friend bought a nearly perfect, black/black G50 targa with half the miles 2 years ago for $16.5k. I thought it was a good deal at the time. ![]()

Why aren't there 50 posts calling this guy a troll? Speeder, you seem like an objective guy. Can you tell me more about why you feel performance of the 3.2 does not meet your standards? Please choose your words wisely, or you will get crapped on |
