1987 Turbo Cabriolet on Ebay - Salvage
Morning Pelicans,
I haven't seen this car mentioned on here so I thought I would bring it up, no connection to the current seller other then emailing him with this info - but I am familiar with the cars history as it was serviced at a shop I used to work at. I found it on Ebay and recognized it right away, currently bidding at $27K with a day or so left, looks like a salvage yard in New Jersey ended up with the car. If anyone is interested in bidding on the car you should know it is one of those rare cars where the owner would basically fix anything needed on the car, as well as trying to make it as fast as a twin turbo! Well we all know you can make a 930 get off the line like a twin turbo without tons of work, but he got pretty darn close. Here is a list of things I know of that were done to the car, many of which within the last 5 years and only have about 6k miles on them from what I remember. I can actually go to my old shop and dig up records, although it wont be easy as their computer system crashed so we would have to hunt down the hard dopies, or I could possibly put you in touch with the original owner who will have most of that stuff if it isn't included with the car. Motor was rebuilt @ approx. 30k miles, performance cams and some other things but nothing crazy - I can put you in touch with the guy who build the motor too~ Car was repainted, paint job was like $12k Car's CIS injection system was maxed out - fuel head was sent to CIS Flowtech for the full workover so the system flows as good if not better then the euro stuff Turbo was just upgraded and rebuilt, probably no more then 500 miles ago New Fuel pumps, front and rear~ Just added those kinda ugly boost and AFR guages too Had a big intercooler but the PO pulled that off, probably pulled out the amp too~ Car put out about 400 RWHP Lots of other things too, anyway it's a great car. I though it was wrecked way worse then it looks... shame that the PO could have bought the car back from insurance for $18500! DOH! ![]() Last edited by CKPTAuto; 04-04-2014 at 07:11 AM.. |

The damage on the left rear does not seem to bad on the outside. But the right rear rocker behind the passenger door is bent. It makes me wonder if the car was hit so hard on the side left rear that the right rear buckled. If that is the case, the damage to the car would be pretty substantial underneath, and the seller has included no pic's of the underside.
The seller also posts no pic's of the engine bay with the engine lid open. Without pic's of these areas, it is impossible to determine how extensive and costly the repair work will be. One thing that seems to be missing are the sportseats. It also seems like an odd color combination: red on white? I have seen red on brown and red on black, but never red on white. |

Yeah the seller is not providing the best pics to get top dollar for this car for sure. From what I know the car was wrecked near Kennesaw Mountain here in Georgia, he was hot rodding it around and spun the car off the road and into some trees. Not sure how big the trees were, but that is the story I know. My guess is that they have already done some superficial repairs to make it not look so bad, but definitely need to see it in person to know for sure. Can't tell if they sorta fixed the fender or what~
Yes, car is Red on white and all original as far as I know~ ![]() |
