Price on a nice 3.2
So a question for this group: Looking at buying a friends 1985 3.2 Carrera. Red ext with restored top by Brown. Tan/dk brown interior in perfect original condition. Car has a little less then 50K actual miles on it. He has owned for a long time, taking it to my local mechanic. It feels and runs like a new 3.2.
Good tires and wheels. Needs a w/s (3 inch crack down low)($600?) and to be driven. Paint is excellent. Has most all records, tool kit etc. The only thing I don't like about the car is the color. Red. So what is a fair price to offer him? Fair meaning fair to both party's. Hagerty says 30 or so but I wonder with the low mileage. Thanks Last edited by darmahman; 04-19-2014 at 08:28 PM.. Well, I for one really like the Porsche Guards red. I think that is a plus. With the super low miles I would say $32,500. I got the price from the NADA classic car price guide. Very well respected and that is what my credit union used to appraise my 3.2. I think that is a very fair price for both of you. This is a car that you will drive trouble free for many years! Holy Smokes!!! Nick

Nick, did you use your credit union to finance a 3.2? Is it possible to finance a 25-year old car?

The mileage is exceptionally low -- if it can be confirmed. First thing to check is if it is a Euro import.
If it were otherwise mint, with records, tools, no body work, etc. cars with this mileage are mid to high 30s. Here is a comparable, but yours is lower mileage: Mohr Imports, Inc. ![]() I expect it sold near the $34,500 asking price. Mohr seems to deal with high end cars. You could compare the condition of your car to this one. Seems to me that getting it in the low 30s would be a well bought car.

Photon...Yes! I bought my car 4 years ago in the San Diego area. I knew it was a good car as soon as I saw it. I had the little classic car dealer call my credit union, California Coast and they looked it up in the NADA classic car guide and gave me a low interest loan for 5 years! Without even seeing the car! Great credit union. I only had to finance $10,000.

Thanks Nick! When I bought mine (also in SD!), the dealer mentioned some specialty lender with highish sounding rates, so I decided to pay cash and be done with it. I'd love to pick up another one, a blue one to keep my red targa company, but with current prices . . . I dunno. Maybe I'll check out Cal Coastal. Tx!
