Where do I say that it "only belongs on a race car"???

WTF is wrong with you, pal? You are truly the sultan of bull schit. I merely stated that I prefer the stock Porsche shifter on my own car. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferences, except to you apparently. Me saying that I would not want it on a street car becomes a "patently ridiculous" statement that the Wevo part simply does not belong on anyone's street car. I never said that. Don't use a sock puppet or a straw toy when discussing things with me. I'll slap you down, right here, like this.

Work on your comprehension. Read slower, maybe. But do not try to change my words when they are here in black and white for all to see.

You are right. I assumed that there are only two kinds of Porsche, street car and racecar. You never directly said racecar. You just said not on a street car.

But not before demanding part numbers, insisting that you were right about some made-up information, (that the factory short shift became stock, etc.), and just generally being an ass. Why would I waste time looking up fooking part numbers for you? Other people can decide who knows what they are talking about here.

YOU challenged me to meet you at a track event and "settle it like men". Don't try to weasel out of your printed words. Now you're apparently going to run from them, leaving a trail of piss. Lol...

And FWIW, calling me a "gaping arsehole", "old", "name dropper", etc. are all personal attacks and cause for banning here. I'm not going to run to the moderators because that's not my style but occasionally they look in on things here. My advice would be to stick to car talk but research your data a little better and read what others write a little more carefully.

Dude, you really have some anger issues. Just put me on ignore and be done with it.

Yes, you said "I", but you are giving advice on the internet. The assumption is that what you would do is what you are suggesting to others.

I did ask for part numbers on the shifter. It contradicted what I had been taught and contrary to your claims I don't like spreading bad information. I wanted to find the right answer and to be perfectly honest, even with 20,000 posts I don't take you as an expert. That many posts just means you talk a lot.

For anyone else following this train wreck, the Wevo gate shifter is nice part that many people like. I just happen to prefer the stock shifter in good shape. I've never needed gates or a shorter throw to find the proper gear on my 911 cars, I've owned both late 901/911 and 915 cars.

You know "fking moron" is a personal attack and could be grounds for banning, not to mention dodging the swear filter is frowned on as well.

I've never put anyone on "ignore" here. That's what pussies do when someone hurts their little feelings on the internet. Yes, you are maddening with your BS but I'm still laughing.

I do spend too much time on this internet cafe and have for many, many years. As for who is "an expert", (I prefer the term knowledgeable), you have to do a search on the tech board only and see who has knowledge. We used to have members, sadly most have passed on, who have unbelievable encyclopedic knowledge of air-cooled 911s. One German guy who worked at the factory in Stuttgart including on race projects who was such a savant that he probably could have run the production line by himself. Another guy who had just read factory manuals until he practically had them committed to memory.

I don't for a second think that my knowledge of Porsche cars rivals people like this but when someone like you starts dropping incorrect info about something I know for a fact, (because for instance I worked at the dealer when the car was new and remember), it's a no-brainer to correct you. I've also spent way too much time in this life obsessing about mechanical objects in general and Porsche cars specifically, I do know too much about them most likely. It's not useful info in the big picture.

The tech board is where the experts are, (at least they used to be), as well as plenty of people dropping wrong info. Why does it matter? Because this BBS and the info on it are part of a permanent, searchable record that will live forever. I contribute when I know something. I know what I know and I don't guess. If I don't know about the particular subject being discussed, I sit back and listen and decide who I think knows what they're talking about. Sometimes it's useful to do independent research. It's no different than studying anything else on the internet.

There is also a thing known as an opinion or a preference offered in an internet discussion. Those are fine, as long as they are not presented as facts. It's important to recognise the difference, words such as "I want/would not want" or "I like" are dead giveaways.

I'm not sure what this board is really about-it's ostensibly for discussing the value of used cars on the market because Wayne, (or really a particular moderator), decided a long time ago that people commenting on other's For Sale listings was rude. I never agreed, thought it was ok to offer opinions on price, etc., but it's not my board and it's not a democracy. Somehow, this has become the 911 tech forum light, with all kinds of half-educated info being printed. It makes sense that someone new in the market for a 911 would not have huge knowledge about the cars but there are long time owners over here who have it wrong sometimes. It's important for the old fkers like me who started reading Pano in the '70s to offer corrections, IMO.

I hear by apologise for any hurt feelings or sore 6-holes. You made me lose my mind with your BS.

Two wrongs don't make a right. But 3 lefts do.

Likewise BFD is frowned upon and gaping arsehole is a personal insult ...
Again, the second part of your post is important. Quit your posturing. You sold cars for a "big name" dealer. BFD. I make parts. But that's not what I predicate my experience on. Tell us what YOU think, based on YOUR experience. That chip in your shoulder is kind of big, and sorry to say it but you are starting to sound like a gaping arsehole. And just this morning, you admitted, that like PML, you don't currently own a Porsche...
I don't discount your personal experience. You've driven a lot of these cars. But the name dropping gets kind of old.

I was actually trying to lighten the mood. I've got a slightly tweaked sense of humour. I'd honestly rather not bicker with you. Skipped and didn't even read the last post because I just don't have any more arguing in me.

We can agree that we don't get along but I'm not taking any more bait. This has gone on long enough and we should just return to what this place is for. I'm not going to wait around for a moderator to give me that advice. We're adults. We can self regulate.
