Nice middies in rare colors really getting up there.....

Nice irish green 77 targa - This was probably a sub 20K car a couple of years ago, though.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/808136-superb-77-911s-targa-irish-green-original-paint-survivor.html

His disciption of the head stud issue is a bit off, imo. The Dilivars were part of the problem as I recall!?

If the pictures represent the car in real life it might not be a bad deal at all. But pictures like these are not great from a buyers point of view, imo. Probably photoshoped a bit here and there - but they sure would make great posters!

Take a look at picture 6 from the ebay ad. With the picture taken directly from the side, how would the right front wheel reflect in the passenger door....that even being open. It just does not make sense....but I never was very good at physics

The paint / interior color combo is very appealing. Looks like a very nice example but I would want a lot more information on the mechanical condition and the most thorough PPI done on the car. For 40k+ I would want 100% service and mechanical history and confirmation of OG paint across the whole car. IMO It looks like a much better buy than this ambitiously price example http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/807863-high-option-77-911-s-remarkable-condition.html

Interestingly The Targa seller always asks high prices for parts and usually gets one 'buyer' ... then the item gets re-listed

I did not know that Irish green was even offered at that time. Color-to-sample of earlier color?

I've never been crazy about the way that color looks on a 911 and would not desire it myself. There is one mid-year color that I would severely overpay for, though, a copper color that resembles a new penny. I'd buy any car in that color if the deal made any sense, it's that great to me.

There's a butt for every seat. For me, that color is the most gawd-awful of the Porsche colors. I hate that copper color with a passion. ANY OTHER color would be preferable.

But for you, you would seek it. Irish Green over camel? Win. Heck, a couple of years ago, there was a chocolate over mocha car for sale in Portland OR for $12k. If not for the potential for a divorce, I would have bought that car on the spot. It was beautiful (to me.)

The average person would prefer the green/tan. Every car company sold boatloads of that combination for years, every half-ass BMW/LR Discovery/Mazda/etc...

But you know what they say about the average person.

But you didn't jump on the one for sale here last year?

If I find another, I'll alert you.

Never saw it.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about Copper Brown Metallic, this 1976 color:

I'm thinking of a color like a brand new penny that I swear I've seen years ago on a mid-year or early SC(?).

Ageed...that car is a rattle and spray it. From calibers to the muffler and to the rest...yikes!

Maybe this color here. Salmon Metallic Code L035 in 74-75:

Or this color here? Sienna Metallic Code 436.

This car sold in Utah a few months ago for ~$19k, and the new owner has been pitching it here and on Ebay for ~$24k. Claims it sold.

Here is a 1978 930 in the same color:

1978 Porsche 930 Copper Metallic for sale | Sloancars

Claimed 25k miles, asking $80k.

FWIW, the interwebz says Code 213 Irish Green was a Special Order option from '74-77.

It is a very nice car, finally got around to looking at the link. This car would have sold for a nice premium at any time.

As the photographer that shot this car I can assure you that there was no touching up done. The outside shots are shot in very good lighting and intended to make the car look pretty. There are no touch ups of any blemishes, and the studio close-ups should give a very good idea of the gaps and overall condition. This car is very nice and very original.

Yep. My middie was well sub $20k three years ago when I bought it. Of course, I wouldn't part with it for anywhere near that money today.

I only have read about 3.2s and don't even know what earlier cars currently sell for.
I'm curious about the price action these early cars have experienced.

People say a longhood 912 was selling for like $8000 in 2010. Now, some longhoods sell for $75,000.
Can someone reconstruct the price action for a representative "bubble" car over the last 10 years?
