Another one: Value of a '73 E Targa matching numbers
 

Hi all.
'73 E Targa, LHD, matching numbers, Signal Yellow, black leatherette with corduroy inserts, 5spd manual, front and rear sway bars, tinted windows, manual aerial and speaker and S comfort package (I think this includes polished trims around gaurds/S gauges and Fuchs rims).

Originally a German Delivered car


Needs full resto. READ $40-50k spent on it.

Rust? Original, matching #s engine/transmission? All original MFI components still on car?

Yep original matching number car.
All MFI included.
G'box & MFI recently rebuilt.
Engine runs well (apparently).

As is 30-35k With paint and drivable 45-50,000 Restored to #2 65-70K #1 100k 1973 911e are becoming very desirable

Because they're cooler than Ts and less expensive than Ss.

So this one I am looking at would be a good buy at $25K?

911s are worth a lot more in Australia than the US, aren't they? Due to the massive import taxes? I would jump on that car NOW for $25,000 here in the states. It has the rare plastic RS fuel tank too which is worth some coin. E Targas are great, and a '73 is a great year.

Thanks, I didn't realise the tank was unusual and rare.

Porsches can be expensive here (a new 911 has so much tax on it that you could basically get a Caymen in the States for free with the tax collected) P-cars can also be cheap due to lack of buyers.

For example: There is a mint condition 1970 911S LHD for sale for $135k. Has been sitting in a dealership for a good while now. No body wants to pay that much for LHD here.
Also, a fully restored 1970 911T Targa LHD sold for $45k. Only sold when a German guy saw it for sale here on Pelican. It is now in Germany.

RHD cars sell for good prices if they are a GOOD car.
A Pelican just sold his 1980 something 911 SC for 54k. RHD Australian delivered. Excellent car. He has a thread here on it. 'Martini Hot Rod' or something like that.

I figured it ('73E) would sell quick if it were located in the US.
I think shipping to the US would be about 6k all up but don't know if there are import taxes and the like over in the States.

Yikes, I just saw Stoddard sell that tank for $2,300 new!

yep no longer rare, available new from the same maker. not so desirable for a street car, more suited for racing, lightweight, bigger capacity.

Turns out it was converted to RHD and needs (should be) converting back to LHD.
The parts are fairly cheap to buy for this considering the number of LHD 911's that could be donors.

What would it do to the end sale price for the car...having been cut to be RHD and cut again to be LHD?

There is still a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done to that car. E or not, it pretty much needs everything gone through.

I read these replies, and it baffles me because it's a production car that needs 1000s (read thousands) of hours to bring it back to acceptable condition to get the money you guys are talking. Thousands of hours by someone who knows what they are doing.

$100k car with a $100k resto :)
