A modded SC for sale. Seems like a fair price.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/813881-sale-1981-sc-w-3-2l-twin-plug-ignition.html

Normally, I'd say a car with a hotrod transplant is not going to fetch top-of-the-list pricing. But I think this one will. I think white is a ding, but the motor is a solid upgrade, and makes the pricing seem reasonable.

Why shouldn't this go quickly?

No issues with white -- but the original beige is back in style.

Interesting car. Dude could do himself a favor with some additional pictures of the interior. The 12 he posted are all odd angles.

The engine looks immaculate from the bottom.

This car has a lot going for it.

30k for a non matcing, non original color and non original interior SC. Are you guys serious or are your comments meant as ironic?

The problem is that an SC is not a collector car. And probably won't be. Upgrades, especially very good upgrades, can enhance the value of the car.

I would say that this car is a value-enhanced car.

My guess, $24K would be all the money.

Shame its not still Bamboo Beige, but you can see the Andial warmed up 3.2 motor in his previous listing. I like it and it seems like a well cared for car, and importantly a car that gets driven. I think he might get high twenties from the right buyer. The mechanical's are done and It will take a while but it could be a really cool hot rod with some attention to the interior.

Silber,
I am surprised to read this from you. SC's are most definitely collector cars now , and the market has moved up considerably on SC's and Carrera's just in the past 2 years. Two years ago there were plenty of good original SC's to be had for the mid teens. Those days are gone. Very good SC's start in the mid $20's now.
For a long time, I was a die hard early long hood fan. Then a neighbor had me test drive his 79SC a few years ago, and I realized for the first time what nice car the 911SC's are. it has plenty of low end torque (missing from every early long hood but the RS), plenty of minor modern upgrades over the earlier cars in braking and handling, but still the same raw feeling of being one with the road that the later cars have lost since the 90's. In addition, all 911SC cars are 30 years and are officially Oldtimers in Europe now which means less taxes and lower insurance.
Furthermore, the 911SC cars have become the new darlings of European car collectors as private persons without big money are now priced out of the longhood market. In addition, the SC cars, despite being over 30 years old, can still keep up with modern traffic on the Autobahn and can easily sustain 200kph speeds on the Autobahn all day long if needed.
I just saw a really nice silver Italian 911SC Coupe at a gas station yesterday. It was so clean and beautiful that I barely even noticed the 67 Aston Martin DB6 parked next to it.
Get rid of the big ugly US bumpers on the SC and carrera cars, and they start to look almost as nice as the early longhoods, but with a wider stance in the rear.
People born in the 70's and 80's didn't have posters of the a 1970 911S or Ferrari Daytona hanging on their bedroom. They dreamed about owning an 80's SC coupé or a Magnum PI 308 GTS. These people are all well into their 30's and 40's and these are the cars they will buy when they get the money and garage.

Not totally clear if Andial parts or actually built by Andial. I'm guessing the former. It's a bit vague, possibly on purpose.

Other than the decal and powder coated engine bits, it is almost straight stock -- there isn't much "custom" about the beige metallic car. And it has transmission issues. Maybe not a bad deal @$18k, though.

It has almost nothing in common with the white (formerly beige) car with a twinspark 3.2 and completely reworked suspension.

Modded cars seem to trade at a discount for the most part.

I had my SC listed at $35,000 got many calls. Quite a few telling me I need my head examined. Also quite a few not squalking at asking but much more concerned with the originality and documentation.

As it were I realized I could not replace the car thus I decided to keep it, walking away from two offers north of $30,000.

Here is a bud's Modded SC......

At a discount to what?

Maybe a discount compared to the money invested to modify them. But $30-35k is still strong money for an SC.

Without knowing the specifics of your car, it is impossible to know if that was a "discount" comparable to a stock SC in similar condition.

given that the odometers failed in so many of these cars, that doesnt bother me one bit. I have 2 crates of broken gauges to prove it :P
what really irritates us is when there is a claim as to the mileage being genuine and we google the VIN and find old post or for sale ads showing a clear discrepancy and misrepresentation.

This is the key question.

Paperwork and ownership history is key.
If the previous owner didn't even bother fixing the odometer, the trust factor goes out the window.
That doesn't bother you , I gather.

I wouldn't pay 18K for the ebay sc.
