http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/814430-1989-911-satin-black-25th-anniversary-model.html
$78k for a 911 with 91k miles?!? I mean, maybe a little premium for a 25th anniversary car, but come on!! 100% markup?!? Is this guy on crack or am I way off base? |

I normally wouldn't comment on what prices people are asking, but has the market really gone this crazy for a somewhat limited edition G50? Other than some cosmetics, what did the anniversary edition include?

From a post I found on RL a few years back.
The Silver Anniversary cars were made in 1989 as you said, not to be confused with the Commemorative/Signature Edition cars made in 1988. Silver Anniversary's were made to celebrate 25 years of the 911 - there were 500 made, 300 coupes and 200 cabrios. Most have silver met paint with color matched Fuchs, full grey leather interior with black piping on the seats, a turbo center console, and plush carpet throughout. Few were made with a black metallic paint - around 60 were produced in black. It is an optimistic price with close to 100,000 miles on it. Maybe I should ask $49K for my SC Targa ![]()

With the market the way it is, Pelican is getting a lot of noob sellers as well. I don't have anything against people selling their car, but I really wish they would try to be a contributing member before trying to sell their stuff.

89 911 25th:pricing
OMG ....gang....I'm the owner of the 911.....along with numerous 356's...I follow the market....I'm a PCA member.....356 registry member and owner of acpbcpartswerksllc.com...check out my web site......anyway my ad says....Asking...and ends with OBO.......so I'm not feeling much love but that is ok....if you follow the Porsche rags....25th anniversary cars in satin black...demand 10% to 20% over normal 89 cars....Hagerty valuation tool shows $67,500.....without 25th anniversary package...anyway at the end of the day...follow the market....follow the auctions....911 /356 Pricing has taken a leap over the past 9 months.....you may have a gold mine in your own garage but you will never know until you take the time to research what you have....feel free to call me or email me at anytime. Thank you. Doug

Hope that it was Charlize Theron riding butt naked and not Doug driving the car the extra miles for the extra $$$$$. Just guessing..........

Hagerty lists 25th anniversary models as +1500 only, which is about right in my book. What's the scuff mark on the driver side mirror and bumpers ? For a $78K Carrera, that shouldn't be there. Last edited by pmax; 06-04-2014 at 12:24 PM.. |

For a condition one car. No offense, but a car with that mileage is at best a 2.

Thank you for the feedback
Gang...thank you for the feedback, I appreciate your personal feelings, comments and etc about the car...I'm going back under my rock for now....as I shared earlier...asking price and OBO are just that.....NOBODY but NOBODY pays RETAIL for anything....I have to start somewhere.....so again I understand where you're coming from...pictures give you an idea of what the car looks like.....I have full documentation on the car....whatever you perceive to be scuffs and etc are not...car looks as nice now as it did in August of 89 when it left the showroom...please continue your rants...it's amusing at best. Make it a GREAT day

Porsche Fun, did you notice what forum this thread about your car is posted in? I ask, because things like vehicle asking prices get discussed here (Porsche Marketplace Discussion forum) - including the realistic and the absurd . . .

To quote Hagerty's tool: Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best car, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the car has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 cars is "concours."

didn't mean to offend, doug. but your price is ludicrous. if grautogallery has a similar car with 20k less miles for $50k, i come to the conclusion that i was correct, and you are dreaming.
gr is typically priced above retail - my guess is he's not too far off on that car - it'll probably sell around $40k. but that's 51% of your asking price. if your intent is to actually obtain a sale of this vehicle, your asking price should be relatively reasonable, otherwise you'll be seen as absurd. if you're just throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks, you may get lucky - unlikely, but maybe - but you will undoubtedly be sitting on the car a while. |

In today's insanely over-heated market, that might be a $40k car to someone, somewhere. Not sure that I understand the strategy of pricing it almost double and taking offers.
