At 65k? I think that eBay wasteland would get less than $65K. No MFI? Webers? Still needs to be gone through. Best of luck, but around this price there are many, many Ts still to be had. Coupes no less.

How can anyone make anything close to an informed decision with just 3 pic's of the car from 10 ft away? If this car is as nice as one would expect for a 2 owner, orig 75k miles car that was garaged its entire life, the seller should post a ton of pic's showing its condition inside and out. With no engine pic's, how can anyone know if the motor has webers instead of the correct MFI?

Why the hell haven't the "you've got to list a price" moderators come down on him? You have to click his useless CL listing so get pictures and price. I don't bag on many listings but that is a total wanker listing.

I have special x-ray engine compartment vision, and I can tell from 20 feet away this thing has Webers. No, it says it clearly in the description, and and that the MFI has been lost to eternity.

It's simple really. I put it out local on CL for a reason. come see the car, it's clean and well preserved, an enthusiast owned car. I will not buy a 911 without personally looking at it. Why? because I am the PPI. I take responsibility for my purchases. You can buy from pictures if you like, and I have witnessed plenty of that from the consumer end, as it then appears in the shop, to get all the unseen, overlooked, ill reported "issues" addressed. So local first, limited pics with plenty more available, serious parties can make the effort. Then come the CL trollers of "brokers", one sends the link of pics and gets flip offers. Nothing local... then offered to pelican and early S, and then to evilbay, where if its not brand new and warrantied, you get what you get and I put my price where i think it should be. I have witnessed too many cars bought long distance, and then flipped back to market because of the problems. Or the wallet opens up and spent on fixing the dream purchase. Easy to buy rust in pictures, better to buy no rust in person. My 2 cents, that saves me thousands. spend yours where you like.

I understand his viewpoint expecting people to show up to see the car before they buy it. Its smart he has a really good reputation in the community and he (probably) doesn't want that jeopardized, so he wants to manage expectations.
You may not like the Ad but the reality is that when you buy a car you are also buying the seller. I've seen some of this cars owners work, and have only heard good things about his shop. If I was looking for a car like this, then I'd probably be on my way to NH. |

But since you posted on Pelican, I assume you are looking for outside buyers as well. I am not about to spend hundreds or thousands plus travel time for a personal inspection based on 3 pictures. Perhaps, some flipper or dealer would. Last edited by pmax; 06-05-2014 at 10:31 AM.. |

If I were seriously interested in the car I would probably take some time and email the seller. Maybe ask for more pics and a phone number. Or I could just blast the seller on a public forum. Hmmm tough choice.

The work the seller has showcased on his website is amazing, but I get the sense that in this situation he has been a "short-term owner" of the car he's selling. Cheers d.

The seller of the Targa has a stellar reputation in the Porsche community.

I know nothing about the seller and am not trying to bag on anyone personally. I just know that when I see an ad like that, on the national market I don't even look closely enough to figure out who the seller is. Maybe on CL with local buyers, people look at it, are willing to drive 30 minutes to go see it or check out who is selling. But if one is actually looking to sell to the national market through a forum like Pelican it is just a crappy ad. But maybe the market is so hot, or the seller so well known, that a crappy ad will work.
