Why is this 100k mile 964 only $21k?
Seems like a killer deal for someone. Why has it not sold already? What main flaws do you see here? |

The main flaw with that 964 is that it isn't a 964. It's a Frankenporsche.

Listen guys, if you both chip in I bet you can afford it. Would it not be nice with a cruise to Florida in your open 964....just the two of you. PML and the Bear! Oh yeah, better buy a AAA subscription.

1. It's not original. 2. It looks jacked. 3. It's lacking documentation. These cars can be extremely expensive to put right. A really nice, original, 100K, documented G50 cab brings what, $35K-$40K these days? The ad states that there are limited records available on the car. It seems like someone could be rolling the dice on this one. You could quickly get up into "nice" cab price territory by putting it back to stock original and addressing any mechanical issues and other cosmetic short-comings that the car might have. Educated buyers will know this. It's not worth it at the $21K BIN IMO. 2cam |

Yep, but what the hell....
I was looking at the response from a different perspective. Perhaps the post would be helpful for newbies who don't really know and are truly trying to understand what is and isn't a good deal in the market and WHY. The info would have been helpful to me at one time. Cheers, 2cam |

Around me there are 3 SC targas and a red 993 coupe that I see regularly. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I pull into the Safeway parking lot and see a 3.2 Carrera Cab. And to top it off, as I came out and drove away, a 964 Cab was driving in. I've lived here nearly 9 months and never seen a Cab. Then I see two within 5 minutes and 100ft of each other.

Not a hard core cosmetic guy like javadog but when they ain't got time to spin off two speed nuts for the hood emblem before paint, how far do you think they went on the rest of the car?
1. Repaint because it is just not done right. 10k 2. Replacement body panels. I say $3k if you scrounge like a dog burning hours to find decent deals. Then you get them painted in the $10k above. 3. Interior $3-5k. 4. Fuchs $2.5k So $20 plus or minus before mechanical corrections, not counting your labor, to make it a 3.2 G50. That's $40k.

parts cars have no flaws per se, they are just parts cars. this one is priced "all the money", not leaving much on the table for flippers, which is why it has not sold. Make sense?

Barnes and Noble sells a book about how to paint your car and the cover shows a 911 with the badge taped over. |
