Need advice on 69 911T
I have a 69 911T that has been offered to me but she is not the original color & has had fiberglass wide body arches put on her. No rust at all on the car.
She has a 2.0 motor w/carbs & a 4 speed gearbox but the motor may not be original to the car. The interior is very nice, dash has no cracks but the speaker cover on the dash is cracked. All the gauges work & no electrical issues. She hasn't been run for about a year now but the owner says that she ran just fine until she was put away. I'm waiting for detailed pictures & more detail on the car itself. This is all the info I have at the moment. I just need some value numbers as I don't want to get myself upside down from the onset. I will post pix as soon as I get them. Thanks to all in advance for your help.. Last edited by urseppos; 07-19-2014 at 04:21 PM.. Reason: more detail added |

I'll buy it if you don't want the car.

The value in a 69 911T is in originality, so one way to value it is use a source like Hagerty for a price on a done one and then start subtracting from that number what it would take to make this one 'right'. You say the interior is nice, does that mean original or in good shape? The engine is not matching but did it come from a another T ? Pictures do help here a lot for computer surfing appraisers.
By the way my 1st Porsche (thirty years ago) was a flared fender 1969 911T and I loved it. Value in fun it is hard to beat a long hood 911. Last edited by ficke; 07-20-2014 at 05:44 AM.. |

If you like the look with flares, that's one price. To reverse the flaring and color change could run $15K. The engine number should start with 619 if it is the correct type for the car. The rest of the number and the VIN can suggest whether it's original, but only the factory can confirm with certainty.
Non-running, body modified and color-changed numbers matching 69 Ts with no rust are worth low-mid $20s.

At $11k I would drag it home and get it into your ownership before somebody else does. It would be nice to establish if it still runs and isn't rusty but even it was I can't see you losing money unless you carelessly dump $20k or more into it. In the end you have to figure out what you want and how close to that this car is. You can contemplate your next move from there.
