1967 912 valuation help please
Hello,
I have found a 1967 912 in my hometown where one rarely sees a Porsche let alone a classic. I am interested in the car but am new to the Porsche. It has been repainted, not the original color and it looks very straight and clean. The doors are both proud at the tailing edge where they close which concerns me. The original motor and transmission has been replaced with a 1970 911 2.2L and 5 spd. The wheels are Fuchs from a 911 as well. The interior is pretty rough but that does not put me off to much. I am not looking for a show winner just a fun driver that will at least hold its value. I did not see any evidence of rust but would want to get it up on a lift to take a closer look. He is asking $9500.00 but I think he would take less. Do you guys think this price is to steep ? What major issues should I look at ? Here is a few photos. I'd buy it. And it looks like it was originally slate grey. Awesome and very desireable color if you stripped it and took it back to stock.

Thanks for the support!! I looked up the paint code 6001 and it looks like it was a special order color "signal green" and there is still some of that color showing in the door jambs. Would the doors being so out of alignment be a big red flag ?

If it's a running driving car with no holes in the passenger compartment pan, and it doesn't smoke like a mosquito abatement truck, buy that sucker!

Take a good look at the jack points and rockers along with kidney bowls. Could be rusty. But could also be poorly hung doors after the repaint. |

Like someone said, if you can't put a foot through the floor and the car's a driver, BUY IT !!

Mayphly,
Every one of us would buy that car. Bring $1,000 when you put it up on the lift. If it looks at all decent, give him the deposit. You can't get anywhere near a car like this for less than $10k.

The engine, trans, and wheels alone are almost worth the asking price.
Drive over there right now and buy it. If it really is free of major rust, you would be very hard pressed to find a better deal.

I certainly hope you followed every ones advice. If you don't you'll be kicking yourself in the a** for a very long time. Don't ask me how I know.

You know how in the movies when the bomb timer speeds up once he clips the first wire? That was your pictures.
