Value my 79 SC

Would like some thoughts on my 79 SC

Swartz Met. paint that was resprayed a few years ago but has problems between primary color an primer causing it to appear to have several spots with "runs" under the clear coat, not noticeable from a couple of feet but needs to be redone. (The bad)

Windshield is original and has a bad scratch on passenger side and should be buffed or replaced, new windshield gasket installed. (More the bad)

AppBiz RS door panels installed, RS rear seat delete and carpet kit installed looks very nice in Grey and black, floor heater controls removed. No headliner currently installed.

Wevo shifter an all new bushes an pivot installed in the linkage.

Mono steering wheel with Porsche horn button.

White face gauge faces installed by N Hollywood Speedo everything works, even the clock and odometer, lol.

Both front seats redone by specialist in German black leather to original spec down to the perforations.

Blaupunt am/FM single CD radio using original ant with blaupunt speakers in doors.

3.0 completely rebuilt less than 3k miles ago, all 964 upgrades done, new clutch installed at same time an trans serviced, dynojet coated headers single muff with single outlet all new with engine, braided lines, updated fan an housing, all powder coated, rebuilt/restored Bosch fuel distributor, new fuel pump an filter, no heat and no a/c.

H4 headlights , 964 front and rear facial on the car with chromed turbo twist OEM wheels, new hawk brake pads with flushed brake system. Michelin tire have 3k miles.

New AppBiz carpet kit in trunk, no rust, original spare with inflator in trunk, Renn systems strut tower brace in trunk, new Napa gold series battery with battery tender.

New sunroof motor.

No rust on this car, never wrecked, notebooks of all history and receipts.

Have all the original parts for the interior that goes with the car.

Have owned the car many years and would go anywhere in it tomorrow.

It is going on the market would just like thoughts on a fair price to ask.

Todd

If its a targa I would think around 12-16k.
if its a coupe around 14-20k
I like all the mods you listed except one, the heater delete...I drive when its cold too.
Right now only cars with the original paint and parts go for big money but nothing wrong with an outlaw driver for under 20k.
I may be totally wrong on these estimates but I think their close.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the input on values. It doesn't get very cold here except for a few weeks in Dec an Jan where it gets to the high 30's once in awhile. I actually have a small 12vdc ceremic heater for the car just in case. Now the no a/c that's another story but the car just stays in the garage most of the time which is why I am thinking it should go on to another home now. That an my wife thinks having 8 vehicles is too many, lol.

It sounds like a really nice car, is it a coupe? Where will I see it when listed? I hope you have 7 more Porsches right..Ok IM editing because I see no headliner so its a coupe,,Duh.....Im no expert and just like to BS mostly but if its a clean garage kept car with records someone would be making like a bandit for $18,000 with all the work you have done. I wouldn't expect anymore than that locally here in the south but Cali and up state guys will pay 20k no problem...

You probably won't get more than $20k with the 964 facias, wheels (chrome), and interior mods. Return what you can to stock and sell those parts separately.

Guessing 'new sunroof motor' makes it a coupe.

$17-20K depending on how it presents and the receipts for the rebuild. Good color.

The mods may be exactly what someone wants, but you narrow the selling options unless you return it to original...

Hello Guy's

Thanks for the help, my number was 15K so I am pretty happy with your response.

Car just sits in the garage under a cover, so it is time it moved on to a new home.

Todd

If your asking below 18000 for this car, you are crazy, just put it out on ebay, i bet you will get more than 15000, and you will not regret giving it away to cheap.
I like your work on engine gotta sound incredible
you got any videos ?

I agree that 15k is low unless you just want to sell it in a day and be done with it. Ask 20k and be prepared to accept offers in the 17-18k range.

The red paint treatment, especially the fan, screams Motormeister. You might want to change it to stock.

It wasn't actually rebuilt by MM, was it? That would be a $10k ding in my book, at least.

I think that motor is cool. You made mods to the rest of the car so why not the motor as well. It all goes well together. I would have to agree that 15-16K is about right with the mods. Good luck.

Nope, it has never been to the left coast in its life. Motor was done in Jacksonville, we have some pretty good P-car guys here an a great dealer for our support, they do all my warranty stuff on the new cars.

Thanks, I put the post up to get an idea of the market value, I appreciate all the PM's and the offers I have received, it will be going up on the market in about about a week I need to take some interior an frame/underside photos.

On the color, I guess I just like powder coating, looks better in person than the photos.

Todd

Thanks Nick, have eight cars so I have to thin the herd. Just sold one of the race cars on EBay a week ago, that was an adventure. First time I have ever had a problem on EBay since 98 but hopefully it will be smooth from here on out. I have another race car coming so have to create space.

I sold my Euro 1979 SC (guards red, 86K, no AC, sunroof, 915, etc) back in 1988 for 16K.

Despite the added features, its worth more then 18.5K.

Where are you Todd?

Did you know that the Atlanta, GA Porsche market is the second largest next to California? If you advertised up here you will get top dollar!!
