1986 Cab with body damage value?

I'm just throwing this out there. I have a line on an 86 911 cabriolet which has some accident damage to the drivers rear. Seller says car was totaled by insurance but everything runs and drives. Driver rear bumper mount is bent 1 inch in per seller but no frame damage. Will either need body work to make it a driver again or get parted out.

What's a guess as to value here? I'm thinking of trying to buy it cheap and either fix it or flip it for parts.

So it will be a salvage title car when fixed -- meaning 25-30% under current market, which, depending on the miles, color and condition is in the mid to high $20s...

Just saw an '86 cab on eBay today - but was converted to an electric car. Car looked pretty clean - no salvage or damage. I thought it was a deal at $9K. I am sure it's already gone. Done by a reputable shop the seller stated, looked to be reversible.

I don't think I'd pay more than $10K for what you are looking at right now. Dismantling a car for parts is time consuming, mind consuming, and space consuming, not to mention patience consuming. Who knows it might be worth saving and repairing the back and selling it that way. Even with a marked title it may be clean enough to do right.

Really?! That seems optimistic. Maybe I'm out of touch but, I have very nice '86 coupe with under 100k that I think would only bring that. Though it is the highly undesirable (at least on this forum) guards red.

These cars are old and they're bound to have had bumps and bruises, but a salvage title is a value killer... we're not talking long hoods where (for some reason) the car's history is irrelevant as long as it has had a restoration.

If I am reading it right, tech weenie is saying the market value is mid to high 20s before subtracting the salvage value -- which would put a repaired car in the high teens.

Very nice '86 coupes under 100k are selling in the 30s. Even red ones.

The insurance company wouldn't total this car out for just a bumper and bumper mount. Needs to hit 80% of the value of the car to be deemed a total loss. Post some photos.

Re-reading, that makes sense. I'm in the 90s so not super low, but under 100. 30's seems optimistic to me. I'm not looking to sell, though I would consider trading for the right Targa.
