So the thinking is that the chassis was totaled or stolen? It doesn't look terrible... The paint looks better than mine!

Think it was updated? LOTS of early cars were updated in the 80 & 90's

I believe that car was for sale in Colorado Springs about 4 years ago without engine or transmission. It had the title issue back then.
