Things effecting value

How is the value of a 993 specially ordered by a customer effect the value of the car. Car ordered with a number of non-standard options, like painted a color not offered the year the car was produced? Another example would be Recaro seats with gray inserts instead of all black.

The car was ordered by a Los Angles area collector from Pompano Beach FL dealer because the New Port Beach, CA dealer would not order it, because of the way the customer wanted it optioned. So the customer bought it from the Fl dealer who shipped to the CA dealer for delivery to the new owner. This is all document even on the window sticker.

I have not been able to find a C2S optioned like the one I make reference to and Porsche does not seem to release that information.

Car is not for sale not being prepared for sale, or intended to be sold in the foreseeable future

I don't think there is an inherent bump in value unless the custom touches are desirable and tasteful.

The fact it was ordered by a Pompano Beach, FL dealer gives me pause. Why would a Cali dealer not order it the way a customer wanted? It implies the color scheme is something so egregious that the dealer feared he couldn't move it if the purchaser abandoned his deposit and bailed.

A "paint to sample" can be a big bonus if it is a great color. But taste is not universal. Gulf Blue might be a big bonus; a custom mauve with matching dash and door cards and lipstick red seats -- not so much.

What color is it? Can you show a picture?

Details needed...

Much like 911 Carreras, 964's and 993's seem to be much harder to find in colors other than black, white, red or silver.

I would almost automatically say a unusual color should bring a premium - unless it is especially hideous to the casual observer. What color is it?

Especially coveted classic colors (like slate grey) or signal colors (conda/viper green, etc.) bring documented premiums (through past sales).

I accidentally ran across a low mile continental orange early 911SC ('78) the other day and was just shocked by the "presence" of the unusual color. SC's in general (especial '78/'79 cars) seem to have a wider array of colors over later Carreras.

Baffles me that a dealer would not order something if you put cash on the barrel head. Makes no sense, as it seems it could be a cash cow in making up a custom car and then tacking on thousands, if not more for just a paint color and seats.

Second, it believe it would make absolutely no difference in value, that is if you like that color and seat pattern.

I don't know for certain, but at times, haven't dealers had an "allotment" / allocation of orders by car type? It might have been a case of the dealer having "no allocation" and not wanting to order a car for someone with very specific tastes and risking getting "stuck" with the car.

Or - and this is more likely - it could just have been an "allotment" trade between dealers: you order this and I'll order that and we'll trade

An odd mix and match of options has no impact on value, this isn't MOPAR mania.

A unique paint to sample color can have a big positive impact; I have no idea if speed yellow is one of those colors, but I'm sure others on here have that knowledge.
