I enjoy reading the random ads in the Marketplace, especially those that appear to take some kind of Marketing-101 approach to selling their used car:

One of the "good things" about this 928 is that it's not based on a Volkswagen. It's also not a hybrid (!)

I like the ad.

But this is a daunting list, and #1 is a deal-breaker:

The Bad

• Automatic not a manual transmission (ZF, 4-speed)
• It’s a 30-year-old car; nothing is new except what’s been replaced
• Needs two front tires & alignment
• Needs new suspension bushings
• Needs new motor mounts
• AC not working
• CD stuck in player
• Back speakers not working
• Worn driver’s seat
• Remote hatch release not working
• Sunroof not working
• Two minor dents (left rear quarter panel corner, bottom of passenger door)
• Odometer not working (2012)
• Exterior paint not good
• Transmission shifts hard until warmed up
• Small power steering reservoir leak
• Flaky ignition switch until warmed up

Non-working A/C? In a black coupe in Texas? No wonder he quit driving it.

Other than the body damage, bad paint, shabby interior, worn suspension, leaky hydraulics, dodgy transmission, and balky ignition, it sounds like a peach.

Maybe I am coming off as snide, but it is not an uncommon car, in the most common color, with a slush box, has high (and unknown) mileage, and needs a lot.

It is probably a $3500 car as it sits.

Cool story, though.
