Curious, do you happen to have the serial number range for the "desirable" magnesium case tranny?

You want a 915/02 or 915/06 if you are trying to be correct. But with a mismatched engine don't bother. Aluminum case 915s from '78-86 are far more robust and easier to find. You will need fine spline cvs but they can be found.

Just remember all 915s are cores unless you see reciepts for work. Expect $1000-1500 for a core or $2500-4000 for a nice one like Bill's.

Well, my "2008 BMW 750 Barn Find" was grabbed from underneath me. The siblings of the heir were upset and actually using the word 'stolen'.
Oh well!

Thus... The '74 will remain in the garage.

Hahaha! I am actually the favorite The deceased bzness partner took the car while the heir was in somewhat medicated state.

So sad for the heir.

Trust me... When I told them that I would offer what Carmax offers, less about $3,000.00, that was when I strengtened my credibility. Once my good faith was re-established, they insisted on just $10,000.00.

This Bimmer reminded of this rich kid who insisted on me buying his 1-year old $60k Supra Turbo for like $7,500.00. IIRC.

Whatever goes around comes around so I believe in being a non-vulture.

Btw, the kid and his rich dad did sell me the Supra.

So, I am officially retired in a few months.

This car is definitely and WILL BE for sale.

I need help in assisting me and the buyer. I am planning on taking pics of the following:
1. Pics of rebuild kit from Pelican.
2. Pics of interior.
3. Trunk.
4. Frunk.
5. I had the crank machined for hotter setup by EBS. Pic of the receipt and crank.
6. Pics of the new pistons and machined cylinders.
7. Pic of the tranny.
8. Pic of the CIS

What else should I get ready for?

As soon as I have everything, I can start a new thread.

Thanks.

p.s., my '83SC Cab will be for sale also.
I also have an 07 997 C4S but I will sell it only after I have sold my house.

Honestly, I have not.

I just finished advertising my 2 SUV's. The Porsches will be next.

The prices have gone up 1.5-2x for the right 74's. Depending on those pictures, yours may be worth around what you joked selling the car for 2 years ago.

David,

Thanks for your market feedback. I should probably start looking at the 911 market tomorrow and go from there. Hopefully others will chime in too. As I said, I just need something that will be fair to both me and the buyer.

Today, I just need to start the process of selling my rental.

Oh, and I was not joking 2 years ago. The BMW 740il for $10,000.00 was a real deal.

The value of projects hasn't really moved in lock step with running driving cars. This car isn't worth much more than the numbers we were talking about when this thread was new. If you can get $20k for it you did well.

with all due respect to tech I think you have a 69 E motor as you stated the it had a 4R case and that motor serial number fits a 69 E

Although that would be a desirable motor for someone with a 69 E not so great for your 74

Yes, it is a 69 E case number. It's also a 79 SC case number, but the 4R cinches it as the earlier engine.

There could be a 69E out there somewhere needing reunion with its original engine. There's a place on the web where reunions are arranged, should you decide to go that way.

Just for clarity, 4R confirms it as an SC Engine, correct?

Also, did the 69 have CIS?

No, 4R means 69. And CIS didn't come out until 73.5

What's the type number? That will put this to rest.

Where would the type number be? I will take pics hopefully soon -- selling the 2 SUV's has been my priority.

BTW, the engine came with CIS.

The type number is stamped on the horizontal section of the case a couple inches from where the serial number is stamped on the vertical.

My 74 with 3.2 swap is also CIS. It appears they used the original 74 CIS with the replacement engine. Your car may be the same.
