A complete restoration without trying to improve on the original design would have been a much safer bet if the aim was to sell it at the end. Nice paint job and upholstery. But top dollar for a car that is no longer original.

If the owner did this and drove it for a long time, the community would have said good job, go with you passion. But do this an stick it on ebay, the community will probably not be very supportive. Just the way it is!

This is a business venture!! This is not some individual fixing cars and flipping them. People need to understand what they are looking at. The price is high because that is what they are trying to establish as part of their business model. Thinks of all the custom shops that charge a premium just because of their name. Is the price high? Absolutely. Will someone buy it based on how they are marketing it? Absolutely .

Who wants to see another show room quality restored Porsche? That is done and nothing new, and boring to boot. I would rather have this interior than a mint stock interior. This is all about taste and likes. This is not a replacement for stock car, this is an option. They price is high, yes, but that is part of the plan.

NOTE: Aside from new spark plugs and routine valve adjustment service, this engine has never been touched. Zero oil leakage or smoke.

Take a look at the drivers side seat leather. the seat cushion needs replacing. A bit sloppy... The Harvard AND Princeton stickers on the car are priceless. I am not joking when i say that if someone told me this was made as a joke to make an "anti-outlaw", i would stone cold believe them. It is almost as if someone resents Magnus making 911's derelict and biker cool, and is trying to reclaim the "country club" and fox hunting image.

I think this car upsets/fascinates me because it is trying to be what most people think a porsche is; a rich man trust fund yuppy banker car. A wine sniffing pocket scarf wearing ivy league limousine to the Hamptons.

Folks like Magnus Walker made the 911 more accessible in my eyes because he reminded me that the 911 was just like any other car that you can collect, and most of all, enjoy driving. It did not have to be perfect, and it could be an expression of your personality. It did not have to be a status symbol (and i still get that from non car people all the time... "Oooh, you drive a porsche... It must be expensive! " "Yes it is, but not as expensive as your suv.").

So along comes this guy who basically wants to swing the porsche 911 image pendulum back from dreadlocks and rock and roll, to fine wine and boutique French cheese imported via Concorde last night.

And good on him. What is more rock and roll to the current 911 market trends than wearing a pocket scarf, taking a pedestrian 84 3.2 targa, doing a solid paint/interior, slapping on some ivy league stickers, and saying it is worth 130k? And all that without even cracking the engine (one can only presume he thinks his target market could care less and think the engine is in the front anyway)! That is basically the definition of punk rock!!!

I laughed when he drew comparisons to Magnus Walker. Now i see they are both quite similar, just with very different angles on the same idea: selling/living an image. I also bet the Baron's image is every bit legitimately earned as Magnus. I bet he was rolling in it from birth and good on him!!!

Now he needs to hit the big time with a self made doc on his aston martin and porsche collection. Call it "Baron Christopher: Oceanfront Proper." His follow up video could be "A/C pyrexia". Tuner shops like sharkworks could send him cars for review at the country club. "It parks well and makes me look like I have the largest credit card limit of all the boys. I like it." As he approvingly places a Princeton sticker on the windshield...

Back to being serious. I think is a very well done car, even if the aesthetics are not to my taste. I think that to match his price, full mechanical restoration will be required. Otherwise it will be just another expensive repaint and custom interior kind of resto-mod. I would also like to see more of his work. To exploit his marketing aim i also think he will need to better differentiate himself to the couture crowd. He needs things like improved a/c with automatic dual climate control or a/c seats, built in champagne fridge and ice machine, modern tech like Bluetooth hands-free, gps, etc.

It looks like a promising start actually... So long as he builds on differentiating his product to his target market, as opposed to just putting Harvard stickers on it.

Now that i digest it, this is probably the most interesting 911 i have seen this year.

Ive no opinion on the car but Nice writing and thought provoking! Anti punk. Like the trace buster buster. Pretty much the best thing I've read today. Too bad more people don't buy cars based on deconstructed aesthetics. I think - to complete the look - it needs a burgundy velvet interior.
