That's a smoking and fair deal. I would be on it, but right now I am still digging out the snow. Goes to show that there are deals. Get them both and sell the Turbo quick for $3K and you have a 911 for $4.5K. Those are 2009 prices.

I agree. I can't see anything on the 65k Turbo that a couple of days of detailing wouldn't cure. Probably a better than $3k car if started properly.
I better be careful though. Wouldn't want to get labeled as a flipper...........This is probably a good case for the other thread currently being discussed about flippers, and how it's not always a capital offense. |

He's now listing the 911 as sold, but the 931 still available. Hard to believe someone didn't grab both.
Can't imagine how many emails he must have at this point. |

When people sell for half of going market, stuff seems to move pretty fast, this was no exception.

I live about 100 miles away and had been trying to contact the seller since 3AM, never heard back until after the 911 had sold.

I received his reply around noon today with a phone number after the 911 was sold. I'll give him a call tomorrow and see if I can find out how much he got for the Targa.. |

My Guess. He may have not sold the 911 at all but realized his mistake and pulled it as often happens when hundreds of folks contact you saying I will have the $$$$ in your hands by the end of the day.

I called about 10 mins after the add hit craigslist, and it went right to voice mail. He never called me back.

My '75 Targa that was under a tree in Pomona was on Craigs for an entire Sunday. I contacted him and went up the next day. Car was posted at $4900. Car was actually offered to his neighbor at $2600 first - neighbor backed out.
He had interest, but not overwhelming interest. Maybe a couple guys from LA. Back then, '75 Targas were laughed at. People thought it was the worst year for a 911. And it was a Targa. Back then was less than three years ago. |

The remaining Turbo is quite interesting also. He bought it from his brother in law who bought it from the original owner ( Dr. in Milwaukee) back in the early 80's with 10k on the car. It had 30k when he bought it from the brother in law in '85. Now has 65k, but has always been garaged and properly taken care of. He quit driving the car in 2005 when the fuel pump went out, which still is defective, but out of the car. No rust, nice interior with only about a 2" tear in one seam on the driver seat, no dash cracks but one small crack in the console. Car has been on dollies since 05. Body is as straight as factory original. Sounds like he knows how to take care of cars. I'd say it's probably one of the better 931's out there. Always garaged, adult owned and driven, 3 owners (2 of which were relatives), and low miles. As you might guess, the asking price on the Turbo is now $2500.00. I asked a friend in Wichita to go look at the car, but I just spoke to him and he didn't make it over, so I'm giving up again and putting the info here. The owner had 5 or 6 buyers from out of state, and one coming from nearby this afternoon. May be sold by now although the ad is still up. The owners name is Hans if anyone wants to contact him. |

You know he's a dealer right? I got the distinct feeling that just about everything he said was a lie. There are 2 different guys involved in this sale. The guy I talked to was a dealer and told me the same speech about how he used to own the car 25 years ago then sold it to the guy that put the cl add up and went and bought it back.

Story is accurate Hans bought car from dealer he bought it back for 5k sold it to me for 15k. The KS title has the mileage that is on the car, as Hans never drove the car that he purchased for his wife. Then never got around to getting it going for her. The car sat from 1991 until now in his semi heated garage. I have title in hand will be checking with KS registry to verify Hans' claim the car was never registered or inspected. Will post pictures when I have the car next week.

As for him being a dealer. He certainly needs to update his showroom. It is very clear to me that the 911 had been on jack stands since the floor jack is still under the rear sump in the pictures, and one of the jack stands is off to the side. The 924 is still on the dollies and covered with a heavy coat of dust. Not quite how a dealer displays his wares. Hans told me he was selling the cars because he had gotten into doing woodworking with his grandkids and needed the room to pursue that hobby. His table saw is clearly visible in the background of the 924, and the stack of lumber behind the 924 is lumber he has been buying on Craigslist for his new hobby. This entire story is so full of holes that it's nearly impossible to tell who has the correct information. I'll have to get someone local to go look at the 924 and get some actual face time with Hans to get a backup to all this. Last edited by TPorsche912; 03-02-2015 at 06:20 PM.. |
