Your Thoughts on this 77 Carrera
This car is for sale here on the forum and also on Ebay when asked for the Vin# the seller says that he will not give it out. Is there something to hide? So do a little searching to see if i can find anything. I cam up with a couple of things.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/847236-1977-carrera-3-0-coupe-minerva-blue.html I give up!!~Countach re-listed - FerrariChat.com As the car stated in FC you can see on the ebay listing the Lambo in question! I could be wrong but is the dash not out of a late 80's with the center A/C vents. |

Just reading the thread on F-chat would prevent me from doing any business with "frank"--BTW "Frank Drebin" is also the name of Leslie Neilson's character in the Naked Gun movies--probably an alias buyer beware

What possible legit reason would there be for with holding the VIN number? What buyer would buy and pay for a car without that information?

The most remarkable thing to me is that the CoA appears to have been altered with white-out. Kinda defeats the purpose of doing a CoA, unless he photographed a copy with the alteration.
The long history of weird behavior is enough for me to just be a spectator...

Yea covering the VIN with white-out on the COA is not exactly confidence inspiring.
I dont know how many 77 Carrera's they made in that color, all that COA proves is that at least one was made and it may or may not be this car. Seriously who in their right mind would do business this way?

The car looks nice, but the vin thing is weird for sure. The red tins are correct for the 3.0. See my 1975 3.0 car (sold a few years ago) as a reference. I'm not sure about the center vents. Mine didn't have them. https://plus.google.com/photos/111026695385711317483/albums/5840417928857831841?authkey=CJz-xd7L8PP-swE

!977 had center vents -1976 Did not. Car is 100% original with exception of exterior re-paint. I kept vin number private as alot of buyers prefer thier cars to be kept private and not posted all over internet. Buyer if he wishes can register it to the 3.0 registry.

Vents are correct for a non AC '77. Car was bid to $78,XXX then pulled with one day and a few hours to go on the auction. I have a Carrera 3.0 and was following closely to gauge a value on my future restoration project. I PM'd the seller while the car was on the pelican classified asking for pictures and a bit of history on the car. He was very short, and basically said wait till I post a better for sale add. That never happened and the car was listed on eBay.

Interestingly, if you look at his Ebay feedback, he seems to have a habit of selling the exact same item more than once to different buyers. He must hold everyone up on the negative feedback thing.

I hope he will be banned from this site just like he was at Ferrari
chat. I've dealt with a crazy person like him over a early E-Type purchase. The seller would never name a price that would buy the car even when I had cash In hand To buy it in person. The seller would always say I have to call the other interested buyer which just caused a ping pong bidding war which she was fabricating all along. The seller finally claimed the car was sold at double my offer which was fair. |
