Was this really an interior color option?

TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 1979 Porsche 911 SC Targa

Pretty nuts. Pretty amazing.

That is awesome. I hope and pray it is original.

"...interior leather is factory blue, really a bright "Dodger blue," not many in this color. The Arizona sun cooked some of the leather, which has been repaired and dyed;"

1) We would need to see an interior that was original Dodger Blue, not some re-dye job done in Arizona under some shade tree.
2) It is a re-dye - so how close to the original is it? Probably not close.
3) Again, we need to see another car with Dodger Blue. It probably isn't that loud. I had a BMW Z3 that had a similar blue interior, but it wasn't that offensive.

I've seen that interior color before. Porsche has always offered some pretty wild colors and combinations.

Absolutely it's a factory color. I've seen a few SCs and turbos with this interior. 79' 930 with Minerva Blue exterior.

There have been a few 911's and 930's offered in Pelican for sale section with that interior over the years.

OK - mystery solved. However, the real stock interior in the above photos looks almost exactly the shade of my BMW Z3 interior. It doesn't really look like the interior on Samba, which obviously is an obscene dye job with the wrong color match. Or it may be just a very poor photo job.

So what the heck is the one on Samba? Dodger Blue? Is there such a thing or are we comparing two different blues - Minerva vs. Dodger?

That's not as bad as the purple they offered in the mid 70s.

Own the car now

I bought the car and as far as I can tell it is the original color. The PO did re-dye it in areas where there was damage, but not all of it. It doesn't look as bright blue in person as some of the pictures on the samba. The picture below better represents how it looks. Unfortunately a lot of it is pretty rough and I will probably replace it as I go through the car. I think I am leaning towards keeping it original, but since it appears to be a non-standard color I'm wondering if I could get new seat covers in that color? If anyone knows of a place I could get them let me know. I guess my other option would be to buy some new light colored ones and dye them? Might do the dash, rear shelf and door tops in black and leave the side panels, seats and center console blue to tone it down a bit.

It is pretty bright, but fortunately there is a nice carpet cover over it right now.

Minerva blue with that blue interior looks AWESOME! Both colors compliment each other.

Anybody know what the color is called or what the color code is. I don't see anything on the window sticker. I've seen some that list the color code after the paint code, but mine just says the car is light blue. Also lists option code A60, but can't find a reference to that in Porsche option codes that I've been able to find.
