Reasonable or a Reach.....

Barn find 1969 911t

Seems to be a very big job ahead for whoever buys....... based on ad every system needs rebuild.... $30,000.....

My experience is this would be a very expensive restoration at a professional shop. I would think if I had the money to restore it there would be a better car out there to start with.

Legal Disclaimer: I have not seen this car or had it PPI'd.

Thread disappeared from Early S. They do that over there.

Plumber - Did you talk to him? His ad here doesn't say sold.

Talked to the guy a few months ago (nice dude, not a flipper - car was in his family for a long time), and at that time it sounded like he wanted to try his hand at a restoration. Can't argue with a quick 30k and not lifting a finger, though.

I haven't seen the car in person yet, so jury's out on value. I'm leaning toward very optimistic. Hope he gets every penny, though (anybody want a '71T in better condition? )

Time after time, people in this forum seem to assume every car sold is sold at asking price; the $65K 73 hot rod and now this car, which didn't even have a posted price, just a suggestion from a restorer that it was $30K worth of car (which it is certainly not, IMO).

I did send a PM this morning and he said he couldn't believe the response.
Sellers inundated with interest typically don't move too far from ask (and he updated the ad to $30k/best)
It's barn find tulip time. I don't get it. Bananas when restored 69Ts are 70k cars..

Judging by the 4 pics and description, the 73 was underpriced.

Agreed, the four pics weren't very helpful. Thing change when you know someone who has seen the car first-hand

Not such a bargain.

Said it was sold

The owner texted me and said the car was sold.
I didn't actually talk to him I'm in Barbados but still need my Porsche fix!!
I didn't think it prudent to ask for the selling price.

I would suggest to you that if a car sells within 12 hours, the car was not seriously low-balled. I think that if you guess 90-100% of ask with that kind of for-sale time.

If I were getting 14 phone calls before I got home from work, I wouldn't be giving any discounts. "Hey, Techweenie, you're third in line, and if the first two don't go for ask, I have eleven guys behind you that I have to call."

OK, so maybe not fourteen people. But more than two, and I know the car is underpriced. More than five, seriously underpriced.

I have a 70Tin the same shape. Maybe not as good. It's not for sale. But if it was I think it should be 45k$ as is.

Correction I use the CDN peso, so only 40k$ u.s is what I think a rough complete 70t is.

She's back.
TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 1969 Porsche 911 T Coupe, complete, project car!

Edit - "i have NOT tried to turn the engine yet..."

..the dude you bought it from did and said it didn't turn. I'd a figured the WD-40 bath you gave the engine bay would have freed the thing up!

The 73 referenced in post #4, and above.
I would love to hear from anyone who has first hand knowledge, or has seen this car in person. I am thinking about it but can be talked out of it. Feel free to rip it apart.
Here are recent ads for it:

TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 1973 Porsche 911T ST Outlaw Tribute Hot Rod

Thanks, Rich
