1984 - 911 Factory Wide Body value?
Hey fellow Pelicans,
I've enjoyed my 911 for about 10-years now and I think it's time to move on. I've recently retired and I want to get started on a new car project. As my garage has limited space, I've been giving serious thought to selling my '84-911 factory wide body (M491). Can you fellows advise what my 911 may be worth today? The car has seen some extensive upgrades which include: Suspension: Full ER suspension with ASP adjustable spring plate, raised spindles, polybronze bushings, new 21/28mm hollow torsion bars, blade sway bars, corner balanced, turbo tie rods......... build thread here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/511148-my-elephant-racing-suspension-upgrade.html Engine: M&K 2in, 2out with custom real valance. PMO ITB's, c/w Electromotive TECgt engine management. Build thread here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/427451-my-pmo-itb-project.html Transmission: No expense spared rebuild and fitted with WEVO internal Gate-Shift, Guards LSD, WEVO bearing retainer plate, 915 Wevo Shifter. Shifts like a dream! Wheels, 17-inch Alton-Zuffenhaus Fuchs wheels and original factory 16-inch Fuchs wheels. Other: Paint is original, interior is original and clean, no tears. No accidents. Becker CDR 220 is fitted. Original Blaupunkt included. Mileage is currently 47,000miles. No rust, no oil leaks. Car is conservatively 8/10. Includes Certificate of Authenticity, all receipts, all documentation, and all takes-offs should you wish to restore the car to its original condition. This car was previously owned by the local PCA president, and has won best in class in the last 5-shows it was entered in. The vehicle is located in Vancouver BC, Canada. I thank you for your assistance. ![]()

I've seen the m491 lately going for between $55k-65k. i think you would be at least on the high side of that, if not over $65k. with the list of upgrades and the miles, i would say thats a good guesstimate.
you don't see the m491 package often, so thats would be my guess. |

lovely car, but isn't 65k more than a 930 with similar mods.
It seams like these super high prices are reserved for the original cars

That's what I was thinking. I can certainly remove the ITB's and ER suspension goodies and restore the car to its original condition (some what of a shame). However as I'm including all the take-off parts, I'm hoping any potential buyer would appreciate the tasteful upgrades.

I can't remember if it is here or RL, but one of the 911 tech forums has an m491 value thread. They are definitely up there, and before the recent run up in turbo values, were getting close to equal. But then the turbos jumped. It's worth way more than an equivalent '84 Carrera without m491.

Another one cashes out and goes searching for 'better value'.
For $65K, there's a lot to think about.

Trog, that car was worth every penny of whatever you got. It was / is an extremely well engineered and built car. Thanks for all the insight and documentation on your build threads.

The car was delivered to our shop on Saturday by the new owner. Trog did a very good job putting this car together with a very high attention to detail. The new owner is thrilled with his purchase.
Cheers
