Serious question + subtle fishing expedition: 912
The good:
Early (3 gauge) 66 912 One owner No rust Unmolested cosmetically The bad: Not original engine The neutral: Ruby red/black I feel like this is about a $23K car as described. But I don't normally advise people with 912s, so looking for input. And if you're a prospective buyer, so much the better!

non original engine is a value killer, the rest is all based on condition and how it's running. European Collectibles just sold a matching # 67 passable driver quality for high 20's, and really nice matching # 68 for low 50's (one of those was mine) so without knowing more, hard to say, there is a huge value range based on condition, but non matching loses about 25-30% off those numbers, and red, at least currently, reduces value.

I think your estimate is pretty close, at least a good starting point.
Personally I think the Ruby color should go in the "Good" list. Anything besides gray, black, white, etc seems to add a premium in the world of older Porsches.

Thanks
To me a one owner car is a bit of a plus in value, all other things being equal. So I'm sti hovering around $23... |

I agree with Ruby as a plus. And the no rust thing is very important. This is an opportunity for someone to have a longhood at a mid-year price. If the car is functional, it would be a great driver and weekend car, and you wouldn't have to worry so much about the valuation thing. Heck, I'd love a car like that as a daily driver.

Lot of polo red too. They seem to be everywhere. Ruby is unique and a plus. I think low to mid $20's about right.

Has it described 23k would not last very long on today market.23k is buy for reasale. The color code for rubis red 6402 code 015 and front grille 4 screws and early strutfront suspenstion it might be 1965 paint dash or at least 1965 MY that would increase the value.

I would think someone would pay $23k for a rust-free 912 just to rebody one of the rust-gutted 80s conversions that are floating around on ebay.
I love the idea of a Raby type IV motor in a 912 like that one -- non-original engine and no rust make a relatively low cost entry to a stock-looking hot rod that could pants most era cars.

Black plates? BaT will lose their collective mind.
detail it, get it running & stopping, and throw it into BaT auctions and there is no telling what you might hit. Even with the wrong engine. That is a sweet car.

Asked and answered:
![]() Currently has Webers. Original carbs are included. Engine was rebuilt, brakes were rebuilt, trans was rebuilt. You might not want to jump in and drive it across the country, but I'm quite sure it's good for a few hundred as it sits. BaT auction is an interesting option... thanks!

Not sure if you can find a good, solid swb 912 under $30k anymore...assuming very little rust. That car looks like it could be a gem after a little detailing. $23k seems very low.

I want a redo. I think that car is worth way more than mid $20's. I'm thinking $40-45k. It's early and a nice survivor, even without a matching engine.
