Pricing Advice - 85 Coupe
Hoping to get your thoughts on pricing of a 1985 coupe. White over black with carrera tail. Car runs fantastic, but has some issues and non-original upgrades. A solid driver.
1 repaint - fairly good condition. Tear in driver seat, but interior is otherwise OK. Records back through mid-90's. Mileage is 135k. Minor passenger rear corner collision repair - looks OK except deck lid gap is a little large on one side. There is no frame damage. Engine rebuilt 15K ago. Full suspension overhaul with bilstein coilovers. Turbo front brakes. 993 17 inch wheels. Was thinking $19K. Thoughts? |

Any sub $20k air-cooled 911 that runs and drives is probably going to sell. Based on your verbal description, I would suggest you may be leaving a $1-2k on the table at $19k.

I am with Greg. If there is paperwork on the engine rebuild, suspension refresh, plus the brakes its probably a high $20's car. Easy enough to recover the seats and realign the rear deck lid, and get a set of Fuchs repros. Then it would bring probably $30 or more.
Are you the seller or the buyer?

Only maintenance records - there is no paperwork on rebuild or coilover swap.
Regarding the rear damage - it looks fine from the outside except for the gapping at the decklid. On the inside, the engine bay plate on which the bottom decklid latch is located (the one with the stickers) has some creases on one side and the repair to the inside of the fender (behind the oil filter) looks a little shoddy - that's what is causing the gapping. I'm the buyer - just trying to come up with a reasonable price considering the lack of documentation and potential for body work. Thanks |

If you can grab at $19k you are way ahead. That's a $25k+ car today.

You need to step away from the computer and buy that car.

Well, Hagerty and NADA say that an average 85 911 it worth about $25,000. Where is the rebuild paperwork?? How does that happen? Rear end accident? Other issues. About $21,000 is what I would offer. No more.
