Euromodel76. This site recently sold a very rare Carrera 3.0 for $93,000 USD. I remember the example being a sportmatic, blue and in very nice condition. Here is there website. Used Porsche for Sale from Paragon Porsche in East Sussex, the Leading Independent Porsche Specialist

There was a 76 C3 on ebay last week with 29,000 miles?Did not sell at $62,000.The moveable wing vents were replaced with fixed coupe units.I emailed as to whether it was matching numbers and any service records but got no reply.Wrong dash and inside the trunk was resprayed.Who knows? There were less than 300 76 3.0 Targas built and they are the last of the same series as the 2.7RS.I see realistic prices for a nice car in the $90,000 - 150,000 range.Time will tell as most of these cars were treated as just Euro cars and driven hard and there are probably not many good survivors left.

Huh? Please explain?
I would have said they are the first of the 911SC's.. CIS 3.0, AL 915, and same body.

Performance characteristics similar to 2.7mfi, due to 930 case, 2.7 crank, and light body. I own both an sc and a c3, they drive nothing alike, I can assure you.

What he said^
My early '77 C3 has a mag case 915. It happily revs to 7k rpm. It has a lighter flywheel and clutch assembly then the 78-83 SC. |

Going to disagree with you, and I am going to guess you haven't driven an MFI 2.7... Comparing response of any CIS car to MFI or even webers is night and day. The C3 is almost a twin to the SC and a distant cousin of a 74 RS.

There is a difference between response and overall performance figures. Yes, the MFI car will be snappier and have a slight edge in top end power, but you have to keep the revs up above 5000k rpm to see a slight difference. The 3.0 CIS is more reliable, broader torque band, and more fuel efficient. Adding a free flowing exhaust and muffler puts the 3.0 in the 220hp range and then it's a no contest comparison as far as horsepower/torque.

No argument the 2.7mfi in a class of its own, and I have driven one. But sorry the night and day is between the c3 and the sc. Drove both today, and both are nice original examples, and the driving experience very different. One has race pedigree the other does not. There is a reason stock c3 run at the front of group S racing in Australia. Although they are now getting pulled off the track as they have become too valuable.

29k mile cars don't get repainted BACK to original color. 2 repaints in 29k miles would be quite a feat. The unfortunate part of trying to buy a classic car is you have to put on your hipwaders to get through the BS. Last edited by gearby; 03-27-2016 at 08:26 PM.. |
