1987 Carrera Targa

I found a seemingly well priced targa, but I wanted other opinions.

Has 150k miles
no accidents
all original

What do you think?

I think that most Porsches look good on pictures. But the reality often kicks in when you go see it.

Looks good with BBS and tail but not on a 87. That is better on early to mid 80's cars, imo. You provide too little info - probably a 20 to 30k car.

P.S. Not all original. Looks like it has dual exhaust. I dont like it but reversible with a new valance and some bits and pieces. Pant looks thick/too glossy. Underbody looks funny/messed up. Or is it the oil line combined with bad pic quality? The pics give me a bad feeling about the car.

What Christian said.

If you like BBS, you are in luck. But they tend to be worth less than original wheels.

Since you haven't told us the asking price, or anything about the condition of the car, it is hard to judge whether it is a good deal.

I provided pretty much all the info in the ad . I didn't get a chance to call the guy yet as I found it late last night. Car is priced under 20k. I was looking for a cheap turbo and ended up finding this. I still prefer a turbo, but maybe I'll sell this if the price is right.

Some more shots. Obviously the car isn't pristine

If that's the only info in the ad, I'd be immediately suspicious. At less than $20k, I'd run over there with money in hand.

+1
At under $20k definitely worth a look but run, don't walk, it might already be sold to someone who doesn't even need to look.

I saw it last night. I think it a scam. Phone number is not local to the ad location.

What was the advertised location in the ad? The car in the pictures looks like a car I saw an ad for a month or so ago in Autotrader, and that one was definitely a scam (I wrote, and the response I got back was obviously scammy)

I'll leave it to the OP to disclose if he wants to. If the car is real and he is chasing it I don't want to introduce competition to the deal.

Yeah, I understand - I'm not interested in making anything harder for the OP. Better to just rephrase myself....I found the ad I mentioned. I saw it a month or so ago. It seemed implausible, but what does it cost to write to ask about a car? I did, and got back a classic scammy response of the form "<personal story that leads to me being somewhere else> and the car is at a shipper's and ready to ship at my expense, just send money" The photos were the same photos seen above.

I'm not going to buy the car. As I said, I'm mainly looking for turbo's.

It's also on Denver. I checked the phone number and it is in Kansas. But when I looked at Kansas CL the car is not listed locally there at all. I think we can safely call it a scam. I already flagged it here in Denver.

Thanks. Hopefully saved someone else from wasting their time.
