Posting for posterity... 1970 911T

So a local 1970 was listed for a really good price. $20K CAD. Here's the picture (there were only 2 in the ad).

"Have a 1970 with a 1974 2.7L. Turbo wide fender flares, 935 bumpers shaved rain gutters, door handle, fuel filler.
Perfect little hot rod"

I did check it out in person but the price was raised on me so I passed. It was a 3 hour drive down and he texted me when I was almost there so that might have clouded my decision (I was thinking of buying FOR sure, then, not a chance in hell!)

I have no ill words for the seller as he is looking out for himself and he is a cool dude.

I will leave my description of the car itself until someone asks for it.

So you are just posting because you are angry? Where is the value discussion or question?

Price points are not allowed to be posted? This is marketplace discussion isn't it?

I'm not dictating any rules. I just don't understand the point of this thread. But I'll just leave off my opinion until someone asks for it.

OK... please can you share your description of the car itself?

There, someone asked

I think it's a good buy for someone but it was advertised as 'running', but the engine is covered in paint and not running. The paint was advertised as 'being perfect' but it's been painted 3 times and it looks like Tremclad roll on paint.

The bumpers are held on with drywall screws (no other support) and only the passenger side door handle is shaved. Drip rail is shaved and it looks well done. Nice clean re-done seats, but the rest of the interior is a mess.

I think for 25K someone could have a nice fun car so there are 'deals' out there. It is rust free.

(It's still advertised for sale, so a few other buyers must've balked as well). If the high prices are to be believed, then this is a screaming deal but since it's sold, it's good to know there's some pragmatic buyers out there (round about way of saying, I'm brilliant!)

Actually, you were dictating rules. Then you left an opinion without being asked for it. Since you asked about the value of my post, what's the value of yours?

Shaved drip rail and drywall screws? I think you made the right decision in passing on this one.

Now that you've added more information, I am going to double down. You are frustrated. You are frustrated that you drove 3 hours to view a vehicle that isn't really as described and to add insult to injury he raised the price on you once you were in front of him. Maybe you are posting this so that nobody else goes to the same trouble you did. If so, good on you. If it's just to whine, get over it. It's the nature of buying used Porsches, and especially in this crazy market where everyone is rushing around trying to score the next barn find it's going to happen more often than it used to. I once spent most of a day driving to, looking at, and not buying a real turd of a '65 912. Not at all as described and the seller was way out of touch with the market. I didn't post here about it as I saw no point.

As for the marketplace thing... What variant of 1970 is it? Is the engine potentially numbers matching? The car could be worth every cent of $25k, but maybe not wearing it's current clothing. The fact that it didn't sell yesterday doesn't mean it's not worth that. It just means it's not worth it to the people who have seen the car so far...

It was a relief to find it in the condition it was in. The 20K cash in my pocket felt pretty nice.

Me and the kids blew some money, stayed at a nice hotel and had an a fun trip.

So like the rest of your useless posts in this thread, you came up with another useless bit of conjecture. Are you projecting? Maybe it's you that's frustrated? Turn off the computer and go for a drive.

I think the OPs comments illustrate what prospective buyers have to deal with in the marketplace these days.

Calm down Matt, you are out of control.

Keep this up and Ronnie and his sidekick will show up over here.

Don't bite Ronnie's hand - you don't know where it's been.

EDIT: LMAO, I read "hand", not "hound". Oh, well.

I wouldn't consider this a deal either. Plus, how many sheets of plastic and tarps can someone pull onto a car?
