How much of a % deduction would a tiptronic 993 Coup vs the same car with a stick?

Yeah, it seems (to me) that $5-8k is the hit for a C2.

What would be a good offer to make on a under 40k mile one owner clean tip coup.
Thanks |

Low mileage is a plus. I don't think you can buy a nice manual coupe anymore for under 40k. I do believe that a deduct of 20% is about right. This would put the same car with tip at 32K. I would step this up for the low mileage, as long as there are minimal stories. Our 993 is a Tip, but a very highly optioned one built from the exclusive program, with a little over 70k miles. I paid 28K two years ago. Since we have added PSS10 and 18" Motorsport wheels, lowered and corner balanced. I would not sell the car for under 40k. Most people who feed into the stigma about the tips have never driven one for any length of time. All of our other 911's are manuals, but the tip is the one I drive most. It all depends on what you are going to use the car for. Buy what YOU want and forget about the stigma. Yes, resale is lower, and yes, they are much harder to sell, but if you get the car for 20% less and plan to keep it, who cares.

Sure you can. Several have been linked here in the last couple of weeks. That doesn't mean they're easy to find, but they're out there. |

I would bet any 993 six speed coupes under 40k would have high mileage, accident history, stories, or other issues. Standards vary as to what is considered "nice". I guess I was talking about a coupe with comparable (40k) miles. Just my opinion.

Actually this is a separate question from your "value" question, but I've never seen it asked.
How good was the 993 tip? I bought a 2K Boxster as a daily driver, and the tip was a great tranny, but I have always wondered about the earlier version. Actually the tip was far better than the AMG dual clutch on my '14 CLA45.

I have the later tip S in my 98 993, but it is still the 4 speed. I think the only difference is the S has the steering wheel buttons, which are real convenient when I am commuting and eating at the same time. I hardly ever drive in the automatic mode, but I have experimented a little with how the computer responds to how I manipulate the accelerator. I shift it in manual mode and can match revs on the downshifts if I blip the throttle at the precise time. I have left alot of 993 six speeds on acceleration with this transmission, as the average driver cannot shift as fast as this transmission. The torque converter locks up once you are in second, and there is no loss of traction during shifts. I bring the revs up close to redline before I shift up, but If i forget the transmission will shift up before the engine over revs. We use Swepco hydraulic transmission oil in these units and find that it improves the operation. Before changing to Swepco, my tip used to shift up prematurely in the manual mode, if I chose not to shift, and now it will rev up to redline if I let the transmission over ride the manual input
