Feeler for a 1973 911 T - SOLD

My girlfriends father is wanting to sell his 911 T, it's a very nice car, 2.4 L MFI, originally Bahama yellow I believe but currently white. The paint isn't great maybe 6/10 but other than that the car is all original and 44,000 miles. It's very clean, I can't say it has no rust because I'm sure on a 73 there is some hidden away on an unrestored car but nothing is obvious. I'll try to get more details and pics. It's a very original car so it has 40+ years of wear on exterior trim and interior. But it is still a nice black interior and in good shape.

It's located in Canada. He'd like to get close to $75k CDN for it. I don't know if that a dream or reality in this crazy market. Perhaps some of you experts can suggest a fair price?

PM me if you think you want more info and I'll put you in touch with the owner.

$100k US ?
Car looks very nice, and 2.4 MFI is a real plus, but unless I'm missing something I would look at some other T's posted in the F/S section and their asking prices, then show your FIL. I might well be wrong but with the color change and driver quality paint even with the 2.4 motor and MFI I would have thought somewhere around 50k ?

100,000. Canadian dollars = $76,297 US Dollars

If the 44,000 miles is not 144,000 miles it might be a fair price.
6 out of 10 for the paint is not saying much for the paint.

Yeah he's way off at the $100k mark . That's for all matching showroom quality stuff. $40k with the lower quality color change mentioned. It would be a bit more if it was a 73.5 CIS .

More for a CIS? HUH? If that's truly the case nowadays, I'll be the first longtime Porsche owner to say the market finally has gone bat **** crazy.

75 CDN = $57,227 US

Can you display a photo of the engine, and the drivers seat- showing wear?
Do you have service invoices that would help to verify the mileage?

You are in the ballpark with that new figure.

Not Bahama yellow on a '73 unless it was a custom paint which I believe would be a 999 on the paint code. It was probably light yellow, or signal yellow on a '73.
$75K Can is $57K U.S. Not unreasonable if the mileage is 144K and the car truly is rust free. It it's 44K original, 57K is a steal.

I couldn't agree more! An MFI motor is much more desirable.

VWsamba, you are re-hashing 1980's sentiments.

A 73.5 will most likely be a great, economical and reliable sports car with good torque and drivability. A window into the future of injection technology.

An MFI T is a difficult, gas-gobbling mechanical monstrosity that no technician has a clue how to work on. They go out of tune all the time and are silly, and German.

They also make a funny noise and are old diesel technology. Definitely do not buy or sell one.

So he was hoping to get a $100k and you wrote that in your post. Now based on the comments here you updated it still saying 'he's hoping' to get 75k ... why ?

Seems like is this is soft advertising, where you are hoping to run an impromptu auction and suggesting a number and hoping for multiple offers, otherwise why would you edit the post ?

Whoa, take it easy! I thought he wanted $100k based on a previous conversation I had with him, I should have specified CDN funds off the bat there's a big difference with the U.S. Exchange. Anyways he confirmed to me that he would take less. Also I posted in Marketplace not the For Sale section because I've seen how sensitive you guys can get over an ad. I was looking for feedback, not to create an auction.

Agreed.

A similar condition '71 T Targa (Sepia) with odo 34,605 miles sold at Bonhams in Greenwich, CT on May 31st auction for $71,500. Minor imperfections: passenger door out; paint chipping; some pitting on drivers door; never restored.

The owner should not sell the car for less than C$75K.

Many absent details could nudge that value upward.
