My Son has been looking for a work car with great mileage. He just told me that here in Southern Cal at least the prices for a good TDI are still really high. Just like someone else has said, I think most folks are looking to buy these cars for great mileage.

Bottom line it says if I don't take it to a dealer for a reprogram of the vehicles ECU software, the registration will be suspended by the state of California. Wow...

Would love to see a scan of that letter.

For the record, here's the recent one they sent to diesel owners:

VW did what we all wanted for a daily modest driver, cheap, looking good, fast if you wanted, good gas mileages, good stereo, and please pass the dammed smog test, handing over $ 20,00 to a fat guy with his paints hanging down, earbuds, called job creating like TSA, drops like a brick in your beloved car (yes you have to watch from your glass cub) like a brick, please get it over with for the next 2 years, it passed, horror.

Yes, it apparently has spread to the gas models. I'm expecting a letter from the ambulance chasers any day. We have adds for a class action law suit on the radio about every hour....
Before they reprogram her ECU, I have questions about what it might do to her mileage, and horsepower.

I guess even after they reprogram, you can re-reprogram with a tune and stick it to them tree huggers [emoji3]
