does this forum have the ability to "ignore" members? if so, how?
I learn a lot here and enjoy it. There is no moderator here cleaning up threads so I want to know how to ignore complete retards so I never see their lame posts..... how is this done? Other forums have it set up pretty easy.
Thanks. |
1. "Quick links" drop down (visible on any page if you are logged in - near top/right).
2. Select "edit options" from drop down menu. 3. Select "edit ignore list" - left/middle side of page. 4) Add member to ignore list (can copy and paste user name) and click "ok". |
Oh the irony. :D

Great question Nachtfalter and thanks for the response Ronnie. I need to use this feature too. There are a few who don't seem to be adding any value to this place and I suspect are turning others off.

General keyboard vomit on the topic - each to their own, but the way I see it, it's a big world out there and I don't expect everyone to act or behave in the same manner (especially when it is something as harmless as message board barb slinging) . . . the banter driving people away from Pelican at large? How silly! Guess that's what's known as "1st world problems". I get turned off by all the "keep it stock" and "oooooohhhh, the woes of rising values" talk - I guess a moderator should erase that **** from the forums?!?!? |

Funny story (well, to me anyway) along those lines: A long time ago, in a country far, far away there was a bar named the Calico Kitten, and in that bar worked a lovely young lass whose English was spoken in an accent quite similar to the one heard in one's mind's ear when reading your quoted post above. I have no idea what this girl's given name was - I just started calling her "Mahoney", and my fellow Marines soon followed suit. Apparently the appellation took hold because more than a year later, after transferring to a different unit I was having a very high-level discussion with our Corpsman about some of more interesting Bangkok bars and mentioned the CK. As soon as he heard the name of the bar he commented on one of the working girls there - said everyone called her Mahoney. No one ever cared what these girls' names were but it seemed that, out of the scores that worked the CK, Mahoney was one everybody seemed to know. Rather than the now cliche "Me so horny" phrase, this young lady would simply say "I'm horny" which, with her accent came out "I'm a hoanie". Well, it sounded like "I'm Mahoney" to me. At 21 years old I never thought anything about it. Now, after recalling the story I actually feel kinda bad.:( |

There are some, who no longer frequent these boards, people who added insight, people who if I'm interested in reading what they have to say do it on Ferrari chat and Rennlist now. That's sad because this web site use to be the best. Now we have 3 way race for second and no clear leader. |
Excellent, funny story, Norm, BUTT you omitted an important detail; how much of your HARD earned $$$$ did Mahoney collect from you over the course of your stay in those parts?!?!?!

Eric was just slinging - he and I have horsed around in this manner for many years on here, but I can see that if someone is not familiar with our errrrrrrr "history", then the commentaries exchanged would seem harsher than what they really are. I disagree about the "respectability" aspect, but do get your point. The idea that someone would choose to vacate a message board due to the postings of another member is a concept lost on me altogether (not saying you are wrong about that, however); I can not image having my actions dictated in such a manner and definitely believe in the "live and let live" concept when it comes to communicating with others. There are plenty of pompous jackasses, and misinformation spreading fools that post on Pelican, but I would not even consider taking myself elsewhere simply because they are here. I just don't read their posts and/or find plenty of unintended laughs in them. |
