'82 SC Targa valuation

I very good/dear friend of mine has approached me to buy his Moss Green '82 SC Targa. I want to treat him fairly, but don't have a good enough "handle" on the value, you'll understand why once you read below. Please chime in with your thoughts, err opinions! Forgive the pics, unable to pull all the way out of a non lighted garage. I'm not interested in flipping. If I buy it, I'll keep and drive it. What's a fair price for both parties here?

The good;
1) 3 owner documented car. He's had it since @ '86

2) actual 39,500 mile car

3) all early service records from 1st owner, tool kit still in plastic bag

4) 100% complete & stock

5) should clean up fantastically, but paint is well patina'd

6) black leather sport seats covered in sheeps skin seat covers since new, the rest of the interior is just as nice

7) NO rust

The bad
1) hasn't run in at least 5 years

2) SALVAGE title. He told me the story he was told. Very slight right rear rocker damage from first owner. It was a leased car in '82 (didn't think that was that common then) and leasing co. took back when ins. co. bought paid off? Repaired exceptionally well, unnoticeable at this point.

I'm going out on a limb here and say $16k, but that's just my wild guess.

The interior condition points to that mileage possibly being correct....this could be a true time capsule.....

$25k

In the first few years of ownership (leasership?) it would have taken quite a wallop to 'total' that car.

The combination of German language on the combo gauge and the US-only 85 MPH speedometer (plus the previously pointed out missing fool sticker on the fan ring band plus missing foil stickers on the engine lid latch panel) tells me this car has had some "adventures."

I think $16K is a good starting point. If you can pull the valve covers & find no broken studs, maybe go to $19K.

I know I'd want a thorough check out. I suspect a large portion of the car has been repainted and I'd be looking for evidence of chassis damage underneath.

My US '83 targa has the same exact "DRUCK" labeling - that is not indicative of any problem or not being "original."

As does my '81 Coupe. Missing stickers is probably a sign of rear-end damage & repaint - the OP said there had been accident damage, but that does sound like rocker panel.

I'll fill you in on what I find. I bought the car and it's heading to KC (go Royals!) as I type this. Bought it for 16 as the base and will go up if warranted. My friend also threw in a bunch of tools, mostly 356. Thanks for your input.
