That's totally a sleeper. I bet it goes for $40-45k. The SC and Carrera guys are going to come say it's not worth it. But it's a SWB with 180hp and a 915. It will totally out drive an SC.

I like it. Price wise, I'm unsure what I'd be willing to pay, but $30K seems about right. Apparently, that doesn't buy the car however.

On a stupider note, I passed on a well built 912 with a rebuilt 3.0 in it for $18K about 2 years ago. Duh.

I can see how it would be a super fun car to drive.

I agree. Maybe even a little more. A very tasteful build, IMO.

I think if it were all original it would be worth a bit more.

Dang, Jerry is selling his car! This car is super clean, read through his thread here. That car is very nice, lots of time has been spent going through it and sorting out the kinks!

I am not so sure on the 'stock worth more' as a blanket truth any more.
I think there is a real market /need for stock original looking early 911/912's that run power wise with newer cars.
I am hearing from friends who are starting to full fill that dream they had of owning a Porsche of their youth, which is a 911, but want 200 plus Hp. as much as their Honda minivan or more.
As long as it looks like the car they dreamed of, seats, steering wheel, etc. they do not seem to care to much what turns the input shaft of the transmission. Well, air cooled Porsche power of some sort at least.
I think this car should be around the $50k mark.
This car looks like a great driver.

My statement was specific to this car minus the engine and tranny swap. I totally a agree with your assertion.
Look at Speedo's car. While he pulled it off the market yesterday without selling it, the ask was up over $60k. I think it was worth every cent but the car was as far from stock as they come. It would need to be a really cherry stock 912 to get me to consider writing a $60k check when there are so many actual 911s I can get for 2/3 that money.

I was speaking in generalities.
Yes, I agree with this car, stock might bring more money.

No worries. Usually when you quote someone you are directly responding to their post. Since you and I were not in disagreement I felt the need to clarify.

Depends on what year and how you define restore. In a proper restoration almost everything is the same on them, at the same cost, except for the engine. And the things body and trim that are 912 specific aren't really any cheaper. Just Friday I was talking to one of my dealers who told me he has a '66 912 in his shop right now for restoration. The current tab on the car is at $125k and it's not done yet. This will be a show car, and not the kind of driver those of us around here own, but I think it makes the point.

Cost of entry is still less on the 912, but cost of work is cost of work.

I think the days of buying a 912 in any form as a cheap entry into the world of 911's, are long gone.

Yes, the days of buying cheap 912's are over.
Entry level driver 912's seem to start at 25K now. The price of a driver SC.

How can it be listed as a 911? It still has a 912 VIN.
