Hasnt this guy been "liquidating" his collection for years without actually ever selling anything?

Yeah- this guy seems to always be selling but never sells a thing. Seems like one giant "look at me". Who knows- maybe this time he ready to sell.

yeah, i found some of his cars scattered across craigslist. I called him and he is crazy, asks WAY too much for rusted out cars.
Even the parts i would look at, but he wants top dollar for everything. |

If someone want to get a kick, call him up and offer him full price, he will figure out some hair-brained problem so that he cant sell you the car.

I bought a 70 911e "matching numbers" from him in 2011 for 15k. It was all the money for the car at the time. I did go in person with a trailer and was going to pass on the car but the person I went with told me to buy it... so it got bought. I was able to get a tour of three locations that were packed with longhood 911's in many states of disrepair. One being a three story wearhouse w/basement with one floor just for motors and transmissions. And I don't recognize the one building with red car with the "steal your face" sticker on the hood.
A bunch of cars in the photos on ebay were there when I was. But I think he moves inventory to some degree. That said, when I got the car home and started to get into it I was disappointed. The more I dug into it I realized most of the good parts had been cherry picked and replaced with sub-par parts and it was missing the dash all together with only a plastic dash cap in it's place. The e-motor had been hastily slapped in and was not the one for the car. So being discouraged with it, the car sat. Luckily the market was in my favor and someone saw it in the back round of a photo of some parts I was selling few years later and offered me more then what I paid for it. So off it went. All's well that ends well. Here is a number I have for John if anyone want's to give him a ring. 307-751-0976 Side note: it looks like john is in the loft rental biz now. |
