I bought the Solexes off a 65 engine 8 or 9 years ago and sold them within 6 months for $6,000. I still kick myself sometimes for not also buying the engine.

Back in the early 2000's I bought a '73 2.4T engine off ebay for $1,300. I almsot didn't buy it because it had the dreaded solex setup on the engine when I really wanted the MFI. The engine sat out in my barn until last year when I sold the carbs off of it for $4,500. It had everything except the air cleaner housing and pierburg pump. I still have the engine so I guess I made out pretty good.
A complete solex setup alone with the pierburg pump will easily run you 8 to 10K by itself.
30K isn't out of reason for a complete 901/01 although it would be worth a bit more if it had been an earlier serial from a '65 car.
