To Fuch or not to Fuch?
 

I'm thinking of selling my black '73E. It didn't have Fuch's from the factory and was wonder if it would sell for more with cookies or Fuch's? I have a set of (polished) later style 15x6" Fuch's on it now. I had planned on refinishing them to period correct (as it's my visual preference) but was wondering if I should change them out for cookies instead. And how important would '73 dated cookies be??

It will sell better with the fuchs on it but I would offer up the cookies with the sale of the car. Cookies don't have much value so just give them away with the sale of the car.

10 years ago, it would be Fuchs, all day long, but with the increased values of air cooled 911s, and people going by the COAs, find a correct set of wheels and offer the Fuchs (I would keep em, but everyone knows how I am about Fuchs) separate.

Not many long hood 911s running around with Cookies.. And have you noticed the price of matching date coded Steel rims lately?

I think Cookies are a bit more sought after today than a few years ago. I've always liked them.

Cookies are often preferred now at least with the 944 crowd over fuchs. As far as 911's to me I would want a set of fuchs even if it came with cookies, steelys or even phone dials. Like Gearby said offer up the cookies with the sale.

I sold the cookies a long time ago when I 'upgraded' to 16" Boxster wheels... :)

On a related note, what should the spare be?

Matt B., if I was selling a car and someone wanted to quibble over the asking price due to the presence of Fuchs instead of cookies, I would tell them to "get to steppin'" and sell the car to someone who didn't have Sesame seeds for nads! In other words, I am sure you can price the car where you want, regardless of the wheels, and someone will be glad to buy it as is.

That makes sense if you don't have a set of cookies no sweat. Price it with the Fuchs you have. If you want some cookies let me know. My Nephew is dismantling 944's now and has a few sets. Of course not going to be date coded 73 but ... ? Still cheap.

I've got a set of 75 cookies. They are black. I'd sell them.

But if it were me is sell it with the Fuchs and not think twice about it. Most will consider it an upgrade even if it's not original to the car.

Forget the black . Guy on here has some date coded 73's if you want to stay original.

Let's face it a 73 911 with black cookies would be... Well just wrong. The ones we offered are silver ats wheels. All of the ones we have are silver , no ugh black. Funny how M&M is always accusing me of stepping on his posts and as soon as I offer up something for sale he swoops in to sell his items. Hmmm.

73's never came with black Fuchs. Course M and. M didn't know that .

Cookies are just goofy, regardless of the car they are on (steelies are worse, though, fit only for a box truck), Matt M. sells garbage and knows nothing about auto mechanics or 911 history, and Boats's fecal matter smells like roses and he's a real sensitive, yet macho guy (so he says)!!!

I think your mother would be disgusted with the kind of person you are choosing to be. You go around an internet forum stalking a guy who hurt your feelings.
