James Dean Boxster

Has anyone ever seen this car in person?

1997 Porsche Boxster - "The Dean" James Dean 550 Spyder Tribute - Fort Lauderdale

Boxsters have grown on me in recent years, mainly after driving a spec boxster racer.

This one almost made me vomit in my mouth. And they estimate someone will pay 80-120k for arguably a <10k car. Nice seats though.

A 97 boxster with an ugly body kit offered for 4 to 6 times the cost of a stock one.

I'll pass

I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than pay 80k for that car.

Having said that, I think the rear of the car is actually quite nice. And they made it 300hp so it's not a sheeper.

"The Boxster has a mid-engine, water cooled 2.5-liter flat six-cylinder engine which has been “chipped” and tuned with a FABspeed Sport Exhaust to increase the horsepower from 301-hp to 330-hp, plus it adds a beautiful, throaty racing sound."

The 1999 Boxster with the 2.5 was the base Boxster which had 201bHp. Their claim is complete BS.

So yea its a sheeper.

Man, that thing is nasty. Horrible! Terrible. Looks like it was designed by someone at a insane asylum. Or from a Japanese cartoon. I would rather buy a Beck 550 or a 550 from Thunder ranch in San Diego!

If that was an original silver with red interior car they ruined one of the nicest combos offered on an early 986. The car was already a 550 tribute from the factory. Add a Pegasus sticker and a Telefunken hoodwrap and you are a Carrera Panamericana tribute. Forget James Dean. He wrecked his car. Maybe this is a good tribute since they wrecked this one too.

Ive actually spent time with this car in person when I lived in Cincinnati and I can agree that its not for everyone, the build quality is quite impressive.

I remember when that was at one of the last Dunkel Bros. shows. It was an example and the conversion was quite expensive. Apparently, they were unsuccessful in selling any off that example. Not surprised. Not to my taste at all.

Reminds me of the 73 911 Targa-based custom that's been for sale for 15 years... Pretty hard to outdo factory designers.

Although I'd love to see somebody make a Boxster look like the original 1993 show car...

This is all wrong on so many levels. I don't understand why is is being sold for so much. I loved the one description...a Japanese cartoon! I'm dying!
