I had a very good experience with Intercity.
Their office was easy to contact during west coast to east coast transit of car. The drop off near my house was nicely coordinated and convenient. The driver called me with updates from the road, too. Sam http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1457490699.jpg |
Congrats! Welcome to the air cooled addiction.

Congrats on the purchase! Now that its over, it must be a relief...

Butt regardless of color, really cool that you finialy got a 911, and hopefully you are not one of those, "ohhhhh, keep it stock because of future sale values" types of errr, ummm "enthusiasts"! :D |

The current owner appears to be a "keep it stock" obsessive, which is fine but probably will not be my fixation, exactly. But I wouldn't want to do anything sacrilegious either; some of the body kits I've seen people put on these cars are truly WTF-worthy. The idea of putting the Carrera script on is growing more appealing though. |
Congrats on your purchase. The rabbit hole is just one step forward.

happy for you that you found your car, and you did your due diligence finding it. I have no crystal ball, but imo I doubt values will go down much if any and chances of getting hurt are slim to none. Even if everything takes a crap and completely tanks, as long as people dont panic and start selling their cars all well be good and if it gets that bad were all going to be in a world of shet anyway. Congrats on purchase !
Now go drive the p!ss out of it. Thats what they like. Dont baby it, shift at 4500 rpms and have fun |

Agreed - much/most of the cosmetic things that people do to these cars does not look good (not including all-out replicas, such as 934 copies, etc.) . . . I really meant performance mods. Plenty of people advise against this, citing "the rise in value"; nothing wrong with that (anyone can do as they please with their cars, obviously), but for me, I could not imagine NOT modifying any 911 variant I got my hands on - aka, they all need way more power than "as delivered" (just like the designers and builders intended) and I don't care what it does to the value as perceived by "stock only" types. But that's just me - a horsepower junkie limited solely by my "tastes beyond my means" income. :D Oh, and as far as you being a "softie", Matt M. swears by these (that's his one week stash pictured below )!!!! https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...aOH41-m-9bULMl |

All good except for the "around schools" exclusion; regular, high RPM 911 fly-byes might startle the fat off of them soda swillin' bastages! Think of it as a public service! :D |

It's on the way! The truck has just come from Amelia Island. We were hoping my car might be sharing space with some of the Seinfeld Porsches, but no such luck. It is rubbing elbows with a BMW 507 and a Lamborghini Miura, though :)

You're letting them scratch your paint with that blanket?

They're the most recommended shipment company on Pelican. My car is sharing a truck with a Miura and a BMW 507. I'm going to assume they know what they're doing. |
I'm teasing you even though black cars scratch if you cough on them.
My cut rate shipper loaded my car up in a single stacker with a Rapide. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1458066616.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1458066661.jpg |

The clear coat on light cars wears and shows better. I got my start in all of this nearly 30 years ago as a detailer and runner. I worked for a broker who specialized in luxury exotics even though accords and camrys paid the bills. I learned early how to care for paint.
Black is the worst. Almost any other color but black we would work with a buffer. Even a Civic Si, if it was black, would get hand finished for delivery. |

Loaded fine on me iPhone, but is also torques on me tablet.
My wife has always wanted a gulf blue Vantage but when I took her out to look at this and said it could be equipped with a kid seat she was sold. Unfortunately I was told the Boxsyer couldn't be traded for it. |

Then a cloud passed over and it spotted like a leopard. Cleaning a black car is difficult, but not impossible. Keeping it clean, on the other hand....:) |

Matt,
The Intercity driver in the photo I posted had a soft towel that he draped over the door when he was in the car. The photo was at pickup at Peter Z's and I think it was really hot in Bakersfield. Peter sent me a note after pickup along with photos and said he was impressed. Same driver all the way across the country - no issues with car when he delivered it about three blocks from my house (closest wide street for him to park his rig on). Sam |

How about some grey / matte silver Carrera script along with some RSR finish fuchs, like the ones on this beauty... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/796822-fs-factory-1987-m491.html ...that'd be some SWEET contrast for you. |

Some of you guys are too damn serious. Of course it isn't some scratchy blanket like you find in the back of a Uhaul rental. It's a microfiber towel intended for just this purpose. Kind of like the fender covers mechanics have to make sure they don't scratch your paint when they lean over into you engine bay. These people are professionals transporting expense cars. I would hope they aren't doing stupid sh.... |
Matt, do you think that your Botox-er's paint would be scratched if Eric rubbed his ****z all over it?!?!?! After all, thast wut guys (word used figuratively here) who own those machines are in to, right???

Isn't a Boxer a dog ????

I thought they were a type of undergarment . . . |
All my cars have boxer engines and I only wear boxer drawers.

Speaking of which, I heard that Christian is a banana hammock dude. Dunno, maybe that applies to all 912 owners?!?! MattR, confirm or deny??? |

Mine was like that when I bought my car also, the "experts" said that happens when one of these if flat-bedded or otherwise transported. Not sure how true that is or if it can happen on a steep driveway. I lived with it until I had the muffler off the car replacing the cat. Then I was able to prop up the muffler, stick a wood "V" block under and hammer it back down using a large diameter punch. It took a lot more force than I would have imagined, don't think a tailpipe expander could do it even if you could get it in there. p.s. nice car, congrats! |
