I had a very good experience with Intercity.

Their office was easy to contact during west coast to east coast transit of car. The drop off near my house was nicely coordinated and convenient. The driver called me with updates from the road, too.

It's always interesting seeing how much peoples' tastes differ with these things, as I would take a black on black combo over blue and tan in a heartbeat - black being my favorite color for any car (although I have a white one :D).

Butt regardless of color, really cool that you finialy got a 911, and hopefully you are not one of those, "ohhhhh, keep it stock because of future sale values" types of errr, ummm "enthusiasts"! :D

I am a sucker for a white Porsche with tan interior, which has got to be the least practical combination possible, in terms of keeping it clean. The black on black is just a little "tough" for me, I'm a softie :P

The current owner appears to be a "keep it stock" obsessive, which is fine but probably will not be my fixation, exactly. But I wouldn't want to do anything sacrilegious either; some of the body kits I've seen people put on these cars are truly WTF-worthy. The idea of putting the Carrera script on is growing more appealing though.

happy for you that you found your car, and you did your due diligence finding it. I have no crystal ball, but imo I doubt values will go down much if any and chances of getting hurt are slim to none. Even if everything takes a crap and completely tanks, as long as people dont panic and start selling their cars all well be good and if it gets that bad were all going to be in a world of shet anyway. Congrats on purchase !

Agreed - much/most of the cosmetic things that people do to these cars does not look good (not including all-out replicas, such as 934 copies, etc.) . . . I really meant performance mods. Plenty of people advise against this, citing "the rise in value"; nothing wrong with that (anyone can do as they please with their cars, obviously), but for me, I could not imagine NOT modifying any 911 variant I got my hands on - aka, they all need way more power than "as delivered" (just like the designers and builders intended) and I don't care what it does to the value as perceived by "stock only" types. But that's just me - a horsepower junkie limited solely by my "tastes beyond my means" income. :D

Oh, and as far as you being a "softie", Matt M. swears by these (that's his one week stash pictured below :eek:)!!!!

It's on the way! The truck has just come from Amelia Island. We were hoping my car might be sharing space with some of the Seinfeld Porsches, but no such luck. It is rubbing elbows with a BMW 507 and a Lamborghini Miura, though :)

They're the most recommended shipment company on Pelican. My car is sharing a truck with a Miura and a BMW 507. I'm going to assume they know what they're doing.

Oh, that explains why I've seen so many black cars with swirled paint. So between that, and the fading/milkyness that red paint cars always seem to develop, I'm beginning to think there is no right color for a car :P

The clear coat on light cars wears and shows better. I got my start in all of this nearly 30 years ago as a detailer and runner. I worked for a broker who specialized in luxury exotics even though accords and camrys paid the bills. I learned early how to care for paint.

Black is the worst. Almost any other color but black we would work with a buffer. Even a Civic Si, if it was black, would get hand finished for delivery.

But he loaded it sideways whatever it is.
