Here's an interesting 1972 911T

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/902749-unrestored-1972-911t-sunroof-coupe-wonderful-driver-solid.html

And the eBay link:

Porsche 911 T Trim | eBay

OK, so, what do you think? It's a '72, and those have a certain following because of the oil door. But a mild hotrod? Will the bidding get up to the original Pelican ask?

I don't like the large amount of what appears to be brand new underbody coating. I like the cool sport seat, but otherwise the color combo is boring. Maybe this falls under the other thread about longhood hotrods, but this one is different in that its a '72 hotord, and less hotrod than the 911E hotrod in the other thread.

Definitely makes me suspicious that it was sprayed on like that to hide rust, etc . . . is that what you're thinking, too? Don't see any cavernous holes () in the pics, butt who knows . . .

I just hate when the lock for the rear lid is not removed prior to painting. Paint on those 3 bolts is just sloppy!

Might be fair for a 72 with a non original engine, if a little strong.

That's what would kill it for me.

this is a car that you should go see if you are going to buy it for all the money. Given the rose colored description and all the non original undercoating you really don't know what it is and that has been reflected in the lack of sale to this point.

If you look at other listings from the seller he's a "professional". Agreed on the see in person. The paint, body and interior are WAY better than that car yesterday. I'd still want to see it up close.

Undercoating isn't always to hide stuff. We used to do it as an add on sale to protect these old cars from rust. I've sprayed way too many of them. You just have to screwdriver test the car. But I think it worth close to the ask if it checks out.

Seems like a lot of money for a car that has wrong motor and has been repainted wrong color that has obvious rust issues. I'm not sure of the value of a ratty unrestored T is right now w/o correct motor but $65k seems like strong money to me. I'd probably take the $10k discount w/o sport seat.

I think current bidding reflects the market value plus "eBay discount*."

* eBay discount is what you subtract from market value when a car that should easily sell locally has not. You hold back money for the 'surprises.'
