Selling on E Bay
I plan to complete the restoration on my 73 Targa in the spring and am beginning to explore options for putting it on the market. I would welcome any thoughts, inputs, or experiences any member has had with selling a car on E Bay. I would also appreciate any advice on a safe way to handle what will hopefully be a large transfer of funds from the prospective buyer.
thanks for any help in advance John |

Only accept payment through bank wire or cash in hand, anything else is suspect. Little known fact, you can put a stop payment on a cashier's check and it's easy to fake a cashier's check.
As far as ebay, answer all questions quickly and honestly, no one wants surprises. Take lots of pictures and show everything. Also, make sure you have a clear title, since many of the cars get exported now.

On SCs and 3.2s, yes. Not sure if I'd want to place a restored longhood there though. Maybe with a sky-high reserve.

My personal advice would be to advertise everywhere and sooner than later. eBay is basically advertising too. I think a lot of deals are done offline. The more you want to ask, probably the longer it be take to find the right buyer. Cash or money in the bank before ever releasing the car and title. |
