^^^

Definitely a sweet treatment for one of the anorexic 911/912 varieties! :D

Jeff.

Hmmmmm Jeff, it that case, maybe offer your car for sale for a reasonable (on the high side) price and see if any one wants it?! I know that plenty of folks like owning stock examples, so you probably wouldn't have much trouble selling it to one of those errrr, ummmm, "types" :) . . .

Who cares about the preservation of a car?? they are consumables built to be used up and enjoyed and maybe rebuilt again.
To me it is about getting the car you want.

A friend was in a similar position as you are about three years ago, he had a 67 912 with a wore out engine and trans, but great paint and interior.
He looked at the 20K for the mechanicals and chose to sell the 912 as is for $25,000 and he bought a very nice original paint, metallic green, 84 Carrera targa with 80,000 miles and most everything worked and needed almost nothing for $19,000.
I think today the 912's are still quite a bit more that SC and Carrera's.

errrr, ummmm, "types" . . .lol.
Ficke, your friend made out well with 6K leftover for any upgrades. I would prefer to stay away from post 75 cars due to smog laws in Cali.

For example you can buy this car http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/892330-1972-911t-turbo-body-targa-outlaw-rs-35000-louisville-ky.html
for less than you will sell a stock 912 for.
