middie price?

Hey guys

Going to look at 77 911 today with 250k miles. Body is good and will need an engine rebuild.

Any thoughts on price. I may keep it or may put her in good nick over a year and sell it - yeah right

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know the market on all impact bumpers has converged but I haven't looked at prices of cars with higher mileage needing some work.

Best
Shaun

If those weren't C $ I would say a little steep for what it needs. But it's in the ballpark. I hope the seller is nicer in person than his ad.

Even in CA$ I think it's pricey. In my experience, "needs a tuneup" is serious mechanical issues 80% of the time. If you were asking $20K+ for a car, would you not spend a few hundred on a tuneup? I know I would. IMO, white is a good color on this car, so that's a plus...

Couldn't be bothered to turn the car right-side up or empty the trash out of the interior before pics? Sheesh.

To all who chimed in --

Car was awful. Not a straight panel on it -- more mileage than stated, sloppy trans, much more rust along every surface, pretty sure some bondo, all interior pieces rough, suspension shot, leaked oil.
It had been bought from BHHC for a film shoot and then punted off upon wrap.
I wouldn't have bought it for half of what he paid which was half his asking.

Needless to say I won't be making an offer.

Thanks for all your thoughts and perspective friends!

77' 911 cars with California emissions plumbing are the worst. Just looking at the first few pic's which show white overspray on the oil tubes leading to the front oil cooler, I could have told you this car was going to be an overpriced disappointment. The car is in need of some serious love (and/or money). Almost all of these cars are saveable, but at some point it doesn't make economical sense. Unfortunately, this is one of those..

Even if this car ran fine and the motor was solid, 28k is crack pipe money.

Nice middies are getting very hard to find. Years as the affordable 911 put them in some unloving environments.
Keep looking, member on here just scored a very nice one albeit at a price.

I looked at a driving '76 911S targa locally this week. Needs paint and interior work with under 200k miles on the clock.

I can tell you there are still under $15k cars out there.

I think a roadable midywear ought to be worth $20K as a base if it isn't a targa. Add in body/engine/rim/interior/accesory upgrades, top of the line would be probably$30K asking. Might get mid to high-20s with a freshly rebuilt NA motor under 300 HP, more with a fresh built boosted power plant.
