2 912 project barn finds. Need help with price.
1968 Porsche 912 Barn Find
A friend has had 2 1968 Porsche 912s stored in a pole barn for several years. Last Friday I took a camera in hand and started probing into what is good and what is bad in these cars. The first car is an Irish green non sunroof coupe that I believe is the original color. I am not sure if it has been repainted. The paint on the front, sides and top still is glossy. We are awaiting the certificate of authenticity to verify if we have all the numbers that match as well as the original color exterior and interior. The shut lines on the doors and hood are fantastic and the car is straight as an arrow. The door jams, front floor pan, front suspension pan, as well as the outer rockers are solid. As implied, the inner rockers are rusty and so is the rear floor. The rear shelf is good. I don’t know about the area under the rear seats. The car had an engine fire and the engine was removed but is present. The transmission is still in the car. I am not sure if it is a 4 or 5 speed but will find out shortly. It is a five gage car but the clock is messed up. The dash is in good shape except around the defroster vents. It appears to be two pieces so the dash should be salvageable. It has the opening rear windows. The seat covers, carpets, and floor mats should clean up OK. The door pockets are bad but the door panels are good. We have the last tag receipt dated 1980. It appears to be a two owner car and we know the identity of the first owner, as well. The second car is your usual rust bucket that appears to be mostly complete. This car was purchased to be a donor car. It is a lot better than a lot of the project cars that I see on the market. I plan on pumping up the tires, removing the brake pads and see if I can haul it out this Friday. This is looking like a fairly easy restoration when looking at a lot of the project cars on the market. I am thinking that the right person could make this into a survivor project rather than a restoration one. I will know when I get the car into my shop. Does anyone know of someone who would give us guidance as to a fair price for these two cars? We are listening ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What a great color combo. I would say $8-10K for the green car based on the writeup and pics...
