The Perfect Car....unless married
I have forever been seeking the weather worn, rough around the edges coupe to build my own canyon carver outlaw. I purchased a few, but they all ended up being too nice, or too original to do what I wanted.
I met a track instructor through the forum, and when he opened his garage, there sat the car of my dreams. Countless conversations and a year later, he passed the torch on to me. While my wife was the first one to drive it when it rolled off the trailer, she thinks a 600 pound diet a bit too excessive for street use. For now, I'm done driving my factory stock rides. Hope she learns to love it. My sons do! ![]() ![]()

I gotta be honest, outside of the questionable stickers, this car is a real looker. Sure you wanna hack it up?

That's the best part, I am not faced with the "to hack, or not to hack" question, already done by meticulous PO, and the stock parts are now in my barn instead of his.
Stickers are a bit, but play ok in person on this color.

I take it this is not another early Carrera but something a little later with a bit more umph? Details please. I love the color though could do without the black rockers and fender guard.

You're correct Matt, it's an 81 that was built by a retired aerospace engineer to be a track rat.
He admits that it was a bit too nice a car to strip, but he was very careful to preserve the parts and the car. 3.2 built by a motor builder as a "temporary" race motor for his own car, until his big power motor was completed, this one only puts 250 to the ground. Not a leak, and runs amazingly smooth. Track prepped 915, LSD, short gears (supposed to be same ratio as my 74, but feels much shorter) Dual coolers up front, Trans cooler with pump in rear (on a switch, noisy) Sine gate shifter, shift coupler Aftermarket rotors and pads, stock calipers (works good with the cars weight) Plexiglass manual Windows, RS cards, no creature comforts exept Pole Positions and RS carpet. Owner bought a 993 caged race car, his wife pushed for a thinning of the herd, and here we are.

Sweet. Kind of where my 74 will be eventually, just no tail. It's now driving season. I'm dinking around with the interior. I need to get the fuel lines replaced and have yet to decide it the Webers go on at the same time. Gearbox will have to wait until the winter when I park it and put it up on the lift.

This is my alternative to waiting for Magnus to sell me his 277.
Now if I can just find the time to drive it more!
