Will be an interesting auction to watch- I'd say it's a $150-170k car but market is pretty unpredictable right now.

I can't tell either, it appears to have originality, but I realize you have sold a few of these Phil. I love the interior….

Here are a couple other Series 1 on the market currently:

Ebay: Porsche: 930 Turbo Carrera, ONLY 35,735 ACTUAL MILES!! For $289,000.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-930-Turbo-Carrera-ONLY-35-735-ACTUAL-MILES-/391450471358?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b24442bbe:g :Z28AAOSwEgVWTP86&item=391450471358

Here is a 78 at BHCC & Ebay for $79,000 (1979 motor)

Here is a 1976 for $130,000 listed here. Do not know what I am missing on this...... seems to be a good value.....

Cant predict this car. To further complicate things it's a BAT auction not Sotheby's ect.

I have noticed in the past year the market has split into two separate groups. Those hunting the early cars 1975 through 1979. The second group hunts cars in exceptional condition. These cars in exceptional shape almost always tend to be 1985 and up. These cars can sell for $150,000+.

I do think within the next 5 years the 3.0 turbo 930 will be THE Porsche to collect. Dare I say second only to the 2.7 RS.

There are quite a few special Porsche's out there..... much ice cream there are many favorites.......I tend to equate the series 1 cars to 1965 911s.

It does seem Series 1 Turbos, 3.6 Turbos and 993TT have yet to stabilize in terms of long term value. They seem to still be all over the map.

Flavors...... a 4.0 is a distinctly different flavor......

IMO cars need to stand the test of time which is true passion for the car vs the speculator who feels he is making an investment.......

I think many modern cars are being grabbed by the investor.

Jeez a marketplace discussion.......

Agreed but I think the allure of the 4.0 is for all the right reasons.

An older (compared to modern tech) formula in its last and best incarnation, with all the features dialed to 11. I've never driven one clearly nor I've tried the current RS, but I can imagine that compared to the 991 (which is surely a much faster car on the track) the 4.0 already feels like a more old school experience...

Prices for the 3.0 turbos are all over the place, couple of very nice 77's listed in the high 300's for sale right now. For the very best cars - low miles 100 % original - market is still ok. Basket case projects are still expensive relative to their value once competed - everything else is tough to sell, Paul at AK just sold a decent 77 for $125k - that was a good buy and sold very quickly.

I have an acquaintance who has an extensive collection of early Turbos, he sold his special wishes colored 997 4.0 RS on to fund the purchase of a 550.... It had nothing to do with the experience and everything to due with his preference for collecting......

I do like everything about this car..... unfortunately it appears with nice cars on BAT they end in bidding wars....

I was watching the last 15 min at work. Two bidders with $2,000 bumps. No real bidder showed up. I wonder what the reserve is.

BAT audience is funny... these are the guys that couldn't believe Porsche were selling for the price they were selling 2 years ago and bashing Porsche. Now they're all experts when it comes to Porsche....The seller's pictures is similar to a seller on Pelican ...user name Jose... something....might be the reason for high reserve. Nice car regardless.
