Soft Window Targa long wheelbase values
I'm looking at a 1971 LWB soft window targa.
It is a factory 1971T with zip out rear window. Without any actual stats on production I would say these are more rare than SWB 911 models. Any ideas on value? I've seen S cars but not many T's. This has to be one of the last made as they were phasing them out. Thank you for any input. |

I'm pretty sure SWT ended in 69, with very few 69s made. It may be factory parts but it is very very unlikely it was built new that way in 1971.

I've seen a few 69, 70 and 71 softies. I suspect (like most Porsche stuff) it was available at customer request. I would think, if documented on Kardex, it would add 30% or more on value over a glass window Targa. As a retrofit, perhaps 5%.

A quick search shows that Henk at Carparc found an original special order 71 a few years back (Ironically that's who bought my 67 912. John, it's the car you sold to Phil VB. Was a great little car for the last 4 years).

This car is definitely factory.
It is a euro model and has been off the road for 30+ years. Very unlikely someone back then would have spent the money to do a softy conversion. Thanks |

If you've got a COA or Kardex on it, like TW said, it's worth 30% or more than a similar car without SWT.

Depending on the car, 30% may be light. I'm the lucky owner of a 69S SWT and I've received multiple unsolicited offers with premiums significantly above 30%. A restored but non-numbers matching 69S SWT sold at RM last year for $286,000 plus premium. Probably close to double what a non-matching standard S Targa would have fetched.

There's a big gap between S and T.
